Guys!!!
Need help!!!!
Next week movingm to Toronto from Dubai. I have valid Dubai Driving License more than 5 years. As per current rules and regulation, will it help me to convert to Canadian License? Is it adviceable to bring certificate from Dubai Traffic Police for its verification or it is useless?
Please advice!
Thanks and God Bless you
Hi Omair,
Yes, please do bring the experience certificate. I did two months ago and it helped.
Advice: Do not go to RTA in Rashidiya (call centre may ask you to do this) . Instead, head to their office in Ghusais.
The document is called 'Lesson Bayanat' in Arabic (will save you the trouble of having to go to ten different people and explaining). Costs Dhs 60.
Just ensure all your fines are paid up - they will ask you to do so, incase of any outstandings.
All the best.

Also, ask your insurance company to issue a no claims certificate (if applicable).
I had brought one along from Oman Insurance. Though this was not "recognised" by the local insurance companies, insurance brokers were more willing to put in the effort to find me a "cheaper" insurance.
Good luck.
Thanks a lot Pratiks & Newboyo!!!! You info is worth alot for me!!!
Dear Pratiks, Just want to clarify, RTA office you have mentioned in Ghussais is the same RTA which is know as TASJEEL (Car Reg Dept) or somewhere else in Ghussais??? I also live in Ghussais (Beurit St.). Any famous landmark nearby that RTA Office would be helpfull or street name where I can go and get \\\\\\\"Lasson Bayanat\\\\\\\"?
Also i want to know if it would be in English or Arabic?
Thanks a lot !!!!
Omair
Hi Omair,
I guess you're talking about the same place. This is an entire complex that has Tasjeel as well, and it also has the court for traffic offences (major ones). I think its on the same road as the Airport Freezone.
Yes, it will be made available in English, but ensure you tell that to them.
All the best!

Thanks Pratiks!!! I guess I got it now!!!! I will visit on Sunday to have it....
thanks
Omair
