Fellows that ban is no longer applicable, however it was basically a federal government ruling intended to bring new workforce in the country and to protect employers right. This was mostly applicable in cases the employer felt that the employee who was leaving the job was likely to seek job with the competitor and hence disclose vital information about the former employer.
Another thing you have to be careful about mate is to check whether the company you are going to be signing up, where is it registered. Basically there are two types Freezone companies and Limited Liability Companies, both type of companies are governed by different set of labor regulation. Freezone are 100% foreign owned companies based in special areas and hence many of the laws of UAE essentially donot apply to them. Limited Liability Cos. are registered in any one of the seven states and hence the labor laws of the country will be applicable.
I do agree with Mansavi that many of the expatriate population out here fear the police and government official for some odd reason. The governement of UAE is the most liberal government in the whole of middle east and you enjoy the same liberty as every where else. This I say from experience having lived in 4 different continents.
If you need any further info about settling down in Dubai or UAE give me a shout at

Talk about law , Dubai doesn't even know the meaning of that word !!!!!
Madame X,

The best way to find a job in dubai is via ad agencies or networking ....write on and I will provide you all the job websites...
Pls do your research. Dubai bubble has burst. The economy has shrunk. Though the prices have gone down but they are still way above meeting your means. Add to it there are no jobs around. However, since i believe everyone has their own destiny to follow - you should ideally try looking around for jobs in the month of september. right now this country is in vacation.
