HI!,

I am working in GULF as engineer. earning aprox. 6000CAD$ (TAX Free) per month.
I will be moving to CANADA by May-2011. Will I be able to earn an equivalent amount, once
settled, which I assume may take 6-7 months?
What is an expected package for engineer?

Regards

Meghadoot

Meghadoot

Good thing you are plaining a bit erly in terms of what kind of job you are going to look for.

first thing you need to know about the candadian job market

If you are in Oil & gas then think about Alberta provence.

If you are in Construction then think about Abu dhabi provence.

If you are in Production and Mechanical think about Ontario

If you are in electrical think again Abudhabi or Qatar province

If you are like me with some Engg & IT think about Toronto....

6000 CAD$/PM you wont make any where in canada for at least for first few years in canada (with few exception)...

You need to get professional engineer (Peng) certification before you call your self as engineer in canada.

Agree with Loser's reply. To elaborate

You haven't mentioned your field of expertise. Finding a job in engineering field within 6-7 months is being extremely optimistic, even during good economic times.

Canada hasn't recovered from the recession yet and good engineering jobs are impossible to find - unless you have a very special expertise that a company needs and nobody else in Canada has that expertise.

Again $6K per month salary is normally for a licensed engineer with years of experience.

If you are doing well in Gulf, there is no point in moving to Canada .

For civil engineers, Gujarat is the place to be. See this article from TOI

I remember the days when Civil engineering was the last refuge for 12th science student.
