Hello, my parents had immigrated here in Oct 2005. Their PR is about to expire and they were not able to fulfill the requirements for renewal as they had left the country earlier (their total stay was about 14 months during the last five years).
I would like to have them here once again. They are over 65 yrs of age. Is there any possibility to extend/renew the PR? what is the legal process? If they come back before the expiry, what will happen to the OHIP coverage? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

My parents are arriving early next week. What do we expect from the immigration office - any grilling/tough questions?
What would they expect as right answers? what do they look for?
Thanks
Hello, i came across your posting, we are having same scenerio. my parents are also having PR and will expire soon. i think we can discuss and guide each other in this. can you pls. call me @ 416-732-5500 at your convenience.
Thanks
I was told by a couple of consultants that I should not apply for the renewal now as it would be rejected right away and then court appealing with big lawyers and big money would not necessarily guarantee the renewal. Instead, apply after they complete the two years in the past five years (even though the PR card is expired), that way, they already have shown the necessary commitment and it would get renewed as they only check for the obligation of two years residency.
Does anyone have any similar experience? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
PS - at the time of arrival, they were NOT given any document suggesting renewal of PR/deportation after the expiry etc.
