Our Canadian passport expired and had to be renewed. Though my husband and I do not have to renew OCI card, but apparently my 10 yr old son has to. Did anyone go through the process and can give some guidance? BLS website doesn't have specific info on renewal. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Renewal process is same as first time application. Only fee is lower for renewal.

Dear Friends...

I have doubt with all this process for conversion of PIO to OCI Card . In my case For a PIO Card ( for a child). I have already got it stamped it by Consular General of India in Toronto 2 months ago which states "validity of PIO Card extended to LifeLong". Registration not required ".

The question is do I need still need to do the process of converting this PIO to OCI Card for the child and deal with BLS .

You need to convert PIO to OCI by March 31, 2016. I did this for my child even though PIO card had lifelong stamp on it.

We never renewed our son's OCI card and went along carrying both old with stamp and new without stamp passports. Apparently nobody at India customs questioned us. Saved us the hassle of renewing with all those complicated paper work and UN-friendly staff
