I want to add that newcomers bring many good things but bringing over old hatred is a useles conribution to any society. Of course there are good and bad Indians and Pakistanis. Once in Canada the old hatred should not be passed on to the next generation who should take pride in their heritage but work to be full contributing members of Canada as well. Although some young people carry on with hatred many do a great job of accepting and working with others. We are not a country of hatred.

So, was this a question about Indians and Pakistanis or Hindus and Muslims??
Is the hatred between people of two countries or religions??
What I have personally experienced is that on the face of it, Pakistanis are very friendly with Indians here, to the extent of always saying we are one and brotherhood etc..... Moreover, they do watch all bollywood films, listen to Hindi songs and watch Hindi soaps.... They are also ver knowledgeable about Indian customs and fashions etc..... But, underneathall this I always sense an envy on the status of their country and the misery of their people back home..... A lot of them can't contemplate going there for long visits, due to safety issues..... Property prices are so low that a lot of them prefer to sell their property back home and hold cash rather than risk losing that property or further devaluation......
In my opinion, till things are fine, a friendship would be possible between an Indian
and Pakistani...... But if they were to fall out for some reason, then it would become ugly since larger issues would creep in....

I did mention 'on the face of it' ..... And I did conclude that friendship can have it's limitations due to external issues.... Sometimes we need to understand from inferencing.... So that there is no need to spell out each word.....
As regards the movies etc..... That was just an observation.... To give an idea about how the two countries and it's people are linked (besides cricket)..... Converse is that India is right now big into Pakistani singers.... Sufism....
What would happen if Pakistan becomes so powerful that it can rule the world?
Just pondering!

I have noticed some tensions between indian and pakistani communities in Canada in recent years after pulwama attack & revocation of special status of kashmir.
Like incidents of indians and pakistanis confronting each other in protests outside the consulates of both countries in Toronto and elsewhere.
