"When Alexandra and her friend Rachel, both graduates of Toronto’s Havergal College, an all-girls private school, were deciding which university to go to, they didn’t even bother considering the University of Toronto. “The only people from our school who went to U of T were Asian,” explains Alexandra, a second-year student who looks like a girl from an Aritzia billboard. “All the white kids,” she says, “go to Queen’s, Western and McGill.”'
According to this article Asians are the new Jews.
In his 2009 book No Longer Separate, Not Yet Equal, Princeton University sociologist Thomas Espenshade surveyed 10 elite U.S. universities and found that Asian applicants needed an extra 140 points on their SAT scores to be on equal footing with white applicants.
To quell the influx of Jewish students, Ivy League schools abandoned their meritocratic admissions processes in favour of one that focused on the details of an applicant’s private life—questions about race, religion, even about the maiden name of an applicant’s mother. Schools also began looking at such intangibles as character, personality and leadership potential. Canadian universities, apart from highly competitive professional programs and faculties, don’t quiz applicants the same way, and rely entirely on transcripts. Likely that is a good thing. And yet, that meritocratic process results, especially in Canada’s elite university programs, in a concentration of Asian students.

You know you are a desi when ........ You spew forth the virtues of India, but don't want to live there...............You've never had a tanning salon membership
Keep in mind, that as per this hare brained author, (and several other NA journalists), Asians equals Chinese/Koreans. They do not know that Asian may also mean a Lebanese or a Kyrgyzstani.
I believe that until certain level, competition is always healthy as it brings out the best in a person. However, as seen in India, an excessive competition leads to cheating/bribing or mental stress on students leading to suicide.

Big deal! Huh...
The article is too racist to be commented upon (but hey! this is what I am doing...oops!).
Damned if you integrate damned if you dont(balkanise, as moslems tend to do so in Europe).
When the white society is increasingly reflective of Jerry Springer show, then you know how the statistics will get skewed. Clearly, the anglos(whites and english speaking blacks) are scared sh!tless.
Btw, Uof T med school selection procedure involves only 20% objectivity(entrance exam with technical questions) and 80% subjectivity(the cabal of elites deciding who gets in and who does not get into the program based on interview and your "suitability".
Osgoode Law is even more of a secret society, only if they feel you will kow-tow with the lawyer mafia will they accept your candidacy. Any history of dissidance and raising uneasy questions, you can kiss U of T law school goodbye.
The less said about the mobsters of the Architecture school the better. From what I have heard from different sources, they are an absolute mafia.
That being said, there some merit in critiquing the east Asian education environment(Indians are closer to this group). As stereotypical as it sounds, rote learning and excess academic focus is a genuine problem in this community.
In California, certain school districts have seen white flight from schools as Asian students have so skewed the grades that caucasian student simply are getting whalloped due to the percentile method of grading and end up at the bottom of the heap.
This has led to disgruntled asian parents, as students are getting exclusively Korean/Chinese/Japanese study environments. The caucasians parents who tend to focus more on creative aspects of education like music, dance, arts etc and balance their child's curricula with these areas of study as well , contribute to more rounded education environment and are being sorely missed by these Asian parents.
