Finally we purchased 46" Sony Bravia 120hz and Sony Home theater Blue ray 1000w 5.1 channel on boxing day.

One of my friend told me that if i wants a good result on TV than i have to buy a HDMI cable for hook up Home theater with TV.

I went to futureshop and gone made with all diffent brands and price. Sales associate at FS told me that $125 for one cable and another one was $89.

he started his way on story for Bllah...Bllah...

I found one at The source http://www.thesource.ca/estore/Search.aspx?keywords=1518886+1518891&language=en-CA at $19.99 (original price was $69.99) and another one found at XS Cargo for $7.99http://www.shopxscargo.com/product_catalogue/cat_product_details.asp?category_id=6&product_code=27973&sub_category_1_id=12&category=Accessories

Do i have to buy real this expensive HDMI cable or regular can work fine. I know the huge price difference between cables.

does it really worthful to pay for higher price or midium range under $30 cable work fine as well.

I needs a suggestion as well.

How i have to connect this all together.

Sony HD tv and sony Home theater and FTA dish reciever and future i am going to buy X box Kinetic very soon. How many HDMI cable i have to but it?

P.S. - I know its a lots of questions but i am not a techie person.

Your input will help a lot.

thanks

I have seen $15 at lower end and a really good one of Philips for around $30 at Wal-Mart.

Just checked, the one at Source is same as of $15 at Wal-mart.

At FS, they will sell you accessories costing you more than the actual equipment.

You will notice some difference between video coex vs hdmi but very little between component vs hdmi.

I will recommend to go for Philips for $ 30.

No. Just buy any cheap HDMI and it will work as fine. No need to spend $100 (FS is BS in this area, if you know what I mean). I bought mine for $8 from
XS- Cargo and couldn't be more happier.

The markup on cables and media accessories is huge and that's where these stores earn much of their sales.

don't buy an expensive cable, many people will hardly see any improvement (~10%) but the price is usually many folds.

I use Canada Computers for such accessories, they are very reasonably priced. Last year I bought HDMI cables for around 8 dollars, they work perfect.

Look at this site too. I got mine for $10 with free shipping

Does your home theatre have extra inputs? In that case, you can connect your dish receiver and Xbox to your home theatre receiver through HDMI and then one HDMI going to TV. So you will have 3 HDMI inputs, one output.

5.1 will soon become obsolete. 7.1 or 7.2 seems to be the new trend.

Few more links about Hi-Def/home theatre connections
