Hi Canadian desi friends

After 12 long years in Canada, I am moving back to India in a couple of weeks. I was offered in internal transfer to my company's operations in India and decided to re-immigrate back to desh.

I have been a member of this forum since 2004,a great source of information to me and I thank all for the help, advice and support.

Take care and all the best to all.

(I still stand by my quote "Grass is not always greener on the other side of the fence)

"The grass is not, in fact, always greener on the other side of the fence. Fences have nothing to do with it. The grass is greenest where it is watered. When crossing over fences, carry water with you and tend the grass wherever you may be"

Timon,
Thanks for the information. Hope we will be in the same flight. I will be flying Toronto-Dubai/Abu Dhabi- Chennai (You can PM me for the exact date).
As an acocuntant, you may know that one thing that will follow you is the Tax. You still way have to pay a total tax as if the money was earned in Canada but then you will not get any welfare or CCTB from the Govt.. This was the major factor which made me to cancel my transfer to Indian operations by my company in Canada.
I hope that you negotiated free housing, free car / pertrol, free driver /maid, free school fees. If you did not, then it is a bad (money) deal.
All the best in your journey and please keep us updated !

It is great if you do not have any kids. But if you got any it's no use even if you have a good position as I feel the kids will loose out in the long run in terms of education! If your kid does a MBA even in India they have to come here and have to re-study and gain something Canadian. But if you have something Canadian it works worldwide.

I have kids who are in elementary school and i hope (or want) my kids will be able to catch up with the indian system. I want to give them an exposure to life in india and the extended family so that they can take a decision as to where they want to eventually live.

That is absolutely right. Schooling in India will make ur kids logically strong and make them to succeed in any part of the world. If ur kids study in India they will definitely succeed in India or Canada. They will be more smart and clever.

Can I say welcome back home!
My kids were also in elementary school when they moved to India. Dont worry abt kids. They adjust before you settle down. For us we made the right decision and I am happy with it.
All the best! Dont leave CD forum. Share your exp with all.
