Every situation is different, be it me or Timon or whoever. Those who left don’t want to come back, that’s ok, we all understand. We have more than a billion people now. Discouraging others to come back to India thru India bashing is wrong.
hmmm...lot of negative stuff of India...for once you made me feel like India is hell. But then everything is relative..to once experience. I have a feeling that North is bad specially places like Delhi..though I never lived there..and I may be wrong on this...otherwise India is fine. It's a great place to be.
Just read the following...
.
New Delhi, Feb 17 (IANS) A man was battered to death by five people when he protested their lewd comments about his daughter here early Thursday morning, police said.
The attackers have been identified as Brijan, Puran, Kanta Prasad, Babu, and Asha Ram. "We have apprehended Asha Ram, Kanta Prasad and Babu, the rest two are absconding," said the police officer.
"The man, Paras Ram, 46, died due to stone injury and we have identified five people who attacked, three of them have been arrested," said a senior police officer. The incident took place Tilak Nagar area in West Delhi at 1 a.m. Thursday.
The five attackers and Paras Ram were working on a project of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi on contract basis in Tilak Nagar area.
"They were drinking together at the site. When one of the accused started passing lewd comments about Paras Ram's daughter's character, he objected. All the five thrashed Ram," said the officer.
Ram rushed to his home and called for help. He then returned with his friends and relatives and challenged all the five. "A fight ensued between two groups, in which Ram was hit with a stone on his head," said the officer.
Police said Ram was rushed to a nearby hospital where he was declared brought dead.
On hearing of Ram's death, stone pelting ensued again between the two groups for a long time, which was stopped after policemen from three police stations rushed to the spot.
The two groups were known to each other and lived in neighbouring areas. "We have registered a case and investigations are on," said the officer.

I will second that for sure ...pollution, unnecessary tension, environment related illnesses will reduce your life by 10 yrs as compared to living here. I grow asthmatic in Delhi within 3-4 days of stay there and used to spend 5 days a month in cold/flue/watery eyes, nose, sleeplessness when I was in India. All those illnesses have vanished since I came out , do not remember when i fell ill in last 5 years. Even my mom who came to me in swiss when I was working there felt healthy and could do trekking with us and in India she cannot walk a km because of heavy breathing. We used to think she got asthma, now we know she got location and pollution based problem. Health of skin is another problem we faced in our family which is cured naturally on a shift.
Another reason I wont go there is mosquitoes. you can secure your house from them, install ACs , nets what not but they are everywhere!.
Health is Wealth.. I know people say you can fall ill anywhere but probability and reasons for that is more in my motherland.
Contaminated water, Extreme heat, friction-ary Work culture, packed up Roads, cities, lack of mannerism, power cuts (beyond the limits of gensets or inverters), anger in people towards each other, stray dogs, water shortage are other factors.
No I am not India basher, I love India for many many other good reasons and it is my vacation destination for sure, but would like to have utter compelling reasons to move back. I hope one day I'll find them like initiater of this thread or others did ...
happy journey friend.

There is a different way of looking at this as well. Per TK, most of the desis either work in finance or IT. Most of the major players have already outsourced ITs to the wipros, tcs and infosyses. Finance is now following the same pattern with most of AP, AR, G/L etc are being outsourced again to the Accentures and other finance outsourcing companies in India. I am not sure whether long term these jobs will ever come back to North America.
From my personal prospective, I already hit the glass ceiling and in order for me to move up, India is definitely the way to go.

I hope you recently went on a vacation to India for at least a few weeks before taking that decision. My personal view is that the more you live in North America, the more difficult is to return, adapt and then stick with your decision to stay in India.
.....
Personally, many of my friends who have returned back are happy with their decisions. Only thing that can make you unhappy is your work environment. ..
There are a lot of things that can make you unhappy like long hours at office and commuting, 6-1/2 days of work, lack of discipline, lack of respect to fellow humans, lack of value for a human life, overpopulation, pollution, extreme corruption and so on.

That is surprising. As per my knowledge, only IT/Finance people in Canada have access to good and immeidate jobs and good salary. For most other people it is a struggle even after 5-10 years. Some uneduated people adjust to doing 2 labour jobs and have a good life here...
People may be surprised to know how many Wipro/TCS/ Satyam/ Infosys people are here are on workpermit and take away the legitmate jobs of other PR holders / Citizens of Canada. (even in another example , we say Angel who had 4 years of QA experience in India unable to get a QA job in Canada). Even with this IT /Finance are high paying and easy to get for Desi's. It is a struggle to get for other professions ( I am saying it again).
To others :
My personal belief is that if you get a good job in India other factors are minor in comparision. If you have a good job in Canada, fine.. Treat Canada as the best country to be and it is true that it is a good country to live if you have a good paying job and have no family in India
