I have seen a family return back to India with much enthusiasm, could not sustain there and then they came back. Husband lost his full time job in Toronto but luckily got part time job with the same organization after returning. He had to supplement his income by working two jobs and his wife who was not working earlier was looking for work now. Even though pollution, overpopulation, corruption, etc., were all part of the system before you immigrated, they start to hurt you more when you come out of that system, live a few years outside and then try to go back to the same system.
I have also seen families return back successfully also especially when they have good family ties there.

In the end its one's individual (collective if married) decision to return to India. Just because some of us returned does not mean that others have to follow. That would be ridiculous and idiotic.

Stress is the main culprit of all the health problems. And I tell u that even foreigners go on vacation to India to get a relief from stress. You picked a city like Delhi to find a peaceful life. Go to some other places to spend ur vacation and u will find different India. Life in metros is hell everywhere.
All other things which u r talking about like pollution, population etc. etc. only affect those people of weak immune system. If u live in NA for long time ur immune system gets weaker and u get sick easily when u travel back home.
Hi All,
I would rather prefer India if I have a good enough salary.Infact I chose not to move to canada as it would have been further away from India(I currently live and work in Europe)
I suffer from a respiratory allery and funny enough it gets worse in cold and windy climate of Europe.During my recent 6 week stay in Delhi I was perfect,I slept like a baby with no respiratory issues at all.
Pollution, population, water, electricity, transport etc etc are issues but not big enough for me when I compare them with other advantages..friends,festivlas,culture,relatives, etc in India and ofcourse certain energy that India has.On my recent visit I saw India has more money and people are more technology and brand aware than before, things and comforts that could not be imagined few years ago are very common now.India also offers far more options, variety, diversity etc. compared to europe. And if you have money,India offers a lot more.My 3 year old daughter found it to be a far better developmental stimulation(she found a new herself with all the play outside, friendliness, visits of relatives and friends etc.,she has developed her hindi and is far more chatty, open and forthcoming now.In europe one tends to be isolated, quite and environment is less stimulating for a growing brain.
It is a personnel choice however and everybody's priorities are different.
Which ever place gives peace of mind or mentally satisfies at this point in our life is the best place to live in. All other factors take a back seat until we come out the high feeling.
In a few months/years we may have the urge to move to some other place or do something else. Our family/social ties may or may not give room for mobility.
But if you love the moment , live it , no matter which country you are in. Why debate?

Timon, wasnt even asking for recommendations / advise .
As an adult, he and his dear ones in Canada have gone thru the decision making process and have figured out the best way that works for them. He was simply saying his goodbyes to the group.
Timon, I wish you the very best as you set out and guess I should say welcome home too, we made the same trip in the fall of 2009.
Happy here.

At times I have wondered whether the environment & system here ( including low pollution , population , infrastructure , support system , medical etc ) make people live longer with less stress ?? I mean you know that the system will take care of you even if you are not earning / earning well ............ I think one leads a relative stress free ( may be a little less exciting ) life here .....
This time when I visited India , I fell ill multiple times .... despite being cautious perhaps immunity does change with the place you live .......
Though I must admit , having spent 1-2 months with relatives & friends got me confused upon returning as to which is the real home !!!
Just recalled this quote from a poster which hung in our house in my childhood - ' A house is built by brick , but a home is built by hearts ' ........
