Hi,
Please advise,
I have my G2, and bought a vehicle in 2009, I was insured by Td Canada and which was quite high around 480$ monthly, but I was having a job so, things are going well.
Now I dont have a job and its almost 3 months I cancell my Insurance and not driving my car, its standing to my parking. Well in July my Car number has to renew, and they are asking me to go for insurance before to renewal the number plate...
Do I need to pay for insurance even if I dont want to drive...
Do I need to renew my number plate.... even if I dont want to drive.
I am jobless and can not meet my expenses, and thinking to sale my car too.
Kindly advise.
thanks
You dont need to renew licence plates if you have no intensions to drive . Same stands good for insurance . However I would suggest you to renew your driving license if it comes up for renewal . Once you lose it , you might have to go through the whole process again .

Growing Old Is Mandatory ..Growing UP is Optional
There is difference between the regular registration which requires insurance proof and the registration for a car that wont be driven on the road (no insurance required)..
Most people go for the regular registration, hence the person might have asked u for insurance proof
U might have to be specific if u want a registration to park the car.
Hi Victor9,
If your intention is to sell your vehicle and you are sure you wont be driving any time now then why dont you return both the plates with the sticker ON it and the plate portion of your ownership top the ministry. you still have 3 months remaining for the expiry and will get around $18.50 in credit. you can use the credit in future for any vehicle transaction such as purchase/renewal of sticker. But your license plates will be cancelled and ministry will destroy it.
There after you can sell your vehicle.
Shriya.
