TK - glad to see a post/s from you and nice to know that you are doing good !!
What op has stated is true but is just one side of the coin ... I was in India for 3 months Dec - Feb last and here s what I enjoyed doing :
a. Cheap & good authentic food .
b. Same for transportation .
c. Same for training and education.
d. Same for medical attention ...
Being in Hyderabad the weather was excellent and I enjoyed thoroughly .....
Did not feel the pangs for Indian ness and being with relatives & friends / celebrating festivals as here ....
I did feel ill more than three times but I attribute that to perhaps my change in immunity ...
OP must realize that a 5 star hotel in India would serve tea @ Rs 500 and a road side guy would do it for Rs 10/- ... Similarly for everything else ... depends on your choice ...............

Everyone comes to your office to get stuff for you like car salesman, TV guy, Internet guy etc.. So you need not go an suffer. We pay bribe to get things done faster that waiting in line in Canada.
Recently I had been to 2 hospitals. One was private. Once inside, any CD who is blindfolded and led inside will swear that he is in a Canadian hospital. We were seen by a doctor in 15 mins. The second time, I had to go to a govt. hospital to a stich in my skin. All done in 30 mins and charge was Rs. 0.
Peace

Not sure what kind of work u do. But this is untrue. Most of the people are overworked. People in IT especially have no life. When I talk to people back home they all cry how much they have to work with no understanding from their superiors and no personal life and even taking a day off is a big issue.

Sure what about the costs. The hospitals are fleecing u there too. Its an industry. Can everybody afford this

This is totall bullshit. Everyone knows what is the state of Govt hospitals and only poor people go there.
There is no comparision between India and Canada. India is a big shit hole with dirty corruption, pollution and uncourteous people except for maybe 1% of population.
TK my 2 cents
Every man builds his world in his own image. He has the power to choose, but no power to escape the necessity of choice
you've got to make choices, and you're not going to be right all the time
After 13 years in NA, I still think the life in that S-hole you mentioned is interesting. No matter how hard I try, I can't get it out of my system.

Guys,
Something is very wrong from your posts.
Ito clarify, I am not in IT nor in b’lore,Chennai or Hyderabad but I honestly do not know what you guys are talking about. I work in a private office and people come in at 10 am and disappear from 1-3 for lunch. Tea time is 11-11:30am and 4-4:30 pm Then they come at 3 pm and stay till 6 or 6:30 and disappear. Since I spent the last 9 years in NA slogging at work, I report for office at 9m and leave at 7 pm (6 days a week), taking 1-1:45 for lunch and 2 X 15 mins coffee break. Some of mu collegues come for work on Saturday while most of them do not. Some come on sat. from 11-12 or some come at 10 and leave at 1 pm etc… We do have time sheets and have to log in 48 hours a week. If you see my time sheet it is logged as 48 hours every week and my collegues is around 53-58 hours.
I am not in IT but then honestly I canot get any work from my consultants. One of my consultants had taken 30 lakhs from my company for a G+6 apartment project and he has given drawings worth Rs 1 lakh and the construction is already at the basement. I am fighting with him for the past 2 months for a elevation drawings which I still have not got. No one returns e-mails or phone calls. Bosses are cool when you tell them that you canot get any drawings / work from someone. Of course the once while, the consultants are brought to our office and given a shouting but even then after that, they are lethargic.
There is no bribe anymore in India. Surprising isn’t it. Bribe is now legalized. It is known as liasoning. For everything we have a liasoning agent who takes his fees. They are fees since we pay 10.3 % service tax on it (Service tax is like our HST). The liasoning agent is responsible for bribing the officials and getting the work done be it permits, licenses etc.. Liasoning charges are put even in the annual reports.
I have never seen people tensed, or slogged or complain that they do not have a life outside office. So I am not sure what you guys are talking about.
Regarding commuting distances, if you buy a house at Burlington and work in Scarborough, will you complain to the Canadian govt. that traffic/commuting is eating up your time? It is your choice man. No one can help you in that regard.
Most of my collegues own a car, 2 apartments, go for vacations and their age range is 32-35.
Everything you get In Canada you get here incl. pampers, choco’s, peanut butter, nutella etc… Even in towns we have electric chimnesy’s , HOB’s etc…
Bus fare is dirt cheap. I use the bus as Someone drive for me. Fare is Rs 4:50 a pop. I stay some 6 kms. from my house. Travelling time is 15 mins. We have A/C buses like the TTC (new ones).
Tax is more than what you pay in Canada.
To clarify to one person :
5* hospital bill was .
Rs 100 registration (1 time)
Rs 300 consultation
Injections (as per actuals incl. you pay for gloves, needles, band aid, cotton as per actuals used).
Blood test was like Rs 3000 but it was a complicated blood test. The results came in 2 hours while we waited.
In the Govt. hospital, there were like 6 people on the Triage line. I was allowed in first since my friend was bleeding at his forehead. We saw the doctor in 10 mins. He came to the operation table after 20 mins and did the stitch with a silk thread. I think the poster was last in India in 1947.
Peace

I am a Gents and not a Ladies.
I am glad u have found ur peace some where..
It wasnt fun to see u struggling in canada..
My personal take is that today India is a the land of opportunities, to be in canada is a mistake because u are missing on the growth opportunities..
The only part u have to give up on in india is work life balance..
