My parent are in India and they don't know much about computer. Sometime I need to access the computer which is in India to help them.

What is the best way to access my computer in India from Canada?

I want that computer in my home network. So, I can access through remote desktop. Any suggestion for free softwares/utilities?

Hi,
Team viewer is one programme , when installed on both computers, I am using it,
also "gotomypc".com , offers similar services, although I have not used it.
Team viewer is free and simple to use.
I can give you more details if you need.
Only requirements shall be , the first time you are using, it you may have to be over a telephone connection talking to your parents guiding them step by step.

So if you try to download files from the remote to your PC or vice versa - that is risky. Is that correct? However for communications - why would you need remote desktop?
