The elected representative's term is 5 years. If he does not perform, definitely he will be voted out. But what about the government servants? Why doesn't the Anna Team turn their guns on them?
The bureaucrats do not retire till they are 58 or 60 and even after that they roam the corridors of power as "Liaison Officers" or "Consultants". It is they who spoil the MLAs or MPs into doing the wrong things. The MLAs and MPs in many cases are even high school dropouts and it is the Upper Middle Class educated bureaucrats who teach them all the corrupt ways.
Recently in Chennai, an Income Tax Commissioner by the name Andasu Ravindran was caught red-handed by the CBI, while receiving bribe several crores. The search of his house yielded lacs in currency, several kgs of gold and silver. He and his spouse, according to newapaper reports are members of all the prestigious clubs of the city elite, the entrance and annual membership fees alone may run into several lacs. It was also mentioned in the newspaper report that the CBI raid was done mainly because of the tiff he had with his chief (It is anybody's guess about those officials who are enjoying a cordial relationship with their chief). Imagine, it is just one city and just one official, what about the entire country.
With all these bio-data, the gentleman has come out on bail and probably will hire the best lawyers to fight his case and come out unscathed. The media houses also soft pedal on these people for fear of retribution, while they go to town if the person is a Kanimozhi or Yeddiyurappa.
-----------------------------------------------------------------
Control of CBI, whether it should be with the Lokpal or with the government is now the main issue, as the bill is about to be passed in the parliament.
The Congress is in no mood to give up its control over CBI, so much so it is being dubbed the Congress Bureau of Investigation. Recalling its yeomen services in alerting Sonia's family friend Quotrochi to run away when he was about to be caught, later helping defreeze his funds in a UK Court, in helping their "fight" with the marxists of WB in the Purulia Arms Drop Case and now serving their current master P. Chidambaram by preventing his arrest and avoiding his eating Moddhu ball along with Raja in the 2G, these must have really brought tears in the eyes of the Congressmen, when they thought about letting go off the CBI. If they want let them have LBI or Lokpal Bureau of Investigation, why ask for ours, must be their line of argument.

Anna may have won round one. Netas wont let Jan Lokpal happen as they could be in the docks.
As usual, your negative thoughts.... Common... I may be like half of your age... It doesn't look good to advice someone older than you
I am sure soon there will be many other posts similar to your thinking...
But again, I don't give up (Gandhian thoughts)
Anyways, Chalo, Good news is hear finally ...
I would suggest that u think realsitically. Sitting in a far away place and writing crap without understanding the real scnario does not make sense. I dont blame u. Looks like u dont know how Indian democracy works.
+ ve thinking is all fine, but when there is a bouncer at 150 kmph, taking eyes off the ball and ducking with bat held like periscope is only wishful thinking.
Now the politicians inside the parliament have let loose their favorite "Reservation quota" for minorities, BC, MBC, SC. ST etc.
The plan of the politician is simple. Bring in reservation for all all and sundry, so that each Lok Palika can protect the wrongdoer and his wrongdoings from his own caste/community/religion etc. and we are back to square one. If a Lok Palika acts against someone outside he will be branded as vindictive against a particular community.
This is not question of lack of law, but only people dragging their feet in putting the wrong doer behind bar. We have examples, like a T.N. Seshan then CEC and now the current Mr. Querishi but for whom the corrupt DMK would not have been voted out. We have one CAG Mr. Vinod Rai to call the bluff on the 2G. Shouldn't be there someone in the CBI to hold the corrupt minister by the scruff of his neck and put him in jail? We may not need an Anna's movement at all.

EVERY system needs a SHAKE after few years of working. Every system. So lokpal palika working will also require some shakes here and there to mend the ways in future but thinking of forthcoming bads will not help the cause of implementing todays goods. Lot of systems have improved after initial hicupps.
Anna like movements are those shake up which every society needs every few decades. lets see only +tives at this stage.
Also, to make sure that the 'Lokpal' themselves will be free of any influence. This is the bigger responsibility above all else.
Correct, the shake-up is really required for India now at this stage. Enough is enough.
Anna Hazare had to suspend his agitation today. He might have lost the battle, but one day the common man will definitely win the war on corruption and black money.
The corrupt Congress can consider it as one more feather in its cap. It is like expecting the local criminal not only to go to the police station, but also go inside the lock-up and lock himself up. We may may have reverence for the institution i.e., for the circular building with pillars and corridor and also the great men of the past whose feet have climbed up and down the steps. But inside this building, barring a few, they can be compared to a bunch of bandicoots inside a basket of food parcels. These bandicoots must realize that the common man cease to have any respect for them; they continue to put on an air as if they are great leaders and deliver speeches.
The common man who watched their lies, half truths, obfuscation and diatribe inside parliament, against unearthing black money or now against the movement against corruption, may safely say he need not be afraid if a Kasab like terrorist comes in front of him with weapon. He has seen and heard worse people.
