I have received a reasonably good response to this meeting I am organising - but the response is scattered - some in this thread, some by personal messages and yet some by personal interaction.

May I suggest that all of you please post it on this thread your interest to attend the meeting so that others who are waiting to see a larger no to be able to follow the herd get interested too.

After posting, give me a call on ................ to confirm and to give me your actual names and telephone nos so that I can create a data base before the meeting and some related facts about each person, so that the meeting will be more fruitful.

The meeting shall be at 7300 YONGE STREET, THORNHILL, L4J 7Y5, in the meeting room on ground floor. Directions are simple - from 401, go north on Yonge Street, pass Sheppard Avenue, pass Finch AVe, and then pass Steels Avenue. Two traffic lights after that is the building - right on Yonge.

For persons coming by public transport, it is easy too. Reach Finch subway (the last station on North-South line), take a bus (60 or 53) to Steels (3-5 minutes), get off and walk down to the building (8 minutes walk).

And yes, persons like Nishit, who want to get some knowledge about the finance and accounting fields, are also welcome. But please, do not take advantage of my posting the address of venue by just dropping in at the last moment - since I have to give a list of attendees to security before hand.

The idea is great! I am a CA/ICWA and presently in the PACE level of the CGA. Should be an excellent forum to discuss all the issues pertinent to accountants. I would be interested in attending. However, as I do not drive I would be taking the TTC. Chandresh, are the buses that leave Finch subway frequent on a Saturday?

The buses from Finch are not as frequent (ever 5minutes or so) on Saturdays - but still you might not have to wait more than 15-20 minutes max, since you have a choice of taking either 53 or 60 (which again is both express and ordinary - and you can take either - for express, you get down on the first stop).

By the way, I am still waiting for intending participants to call me on phone since I have received ONLY 2 calls till now. As I have written earlier, I do not want any surprises at the last moment since proper arangements have to be made for this meeting (after all it is a meeting of the professionals ) and security at the condo has to be informed.

Great idea, I did meet you for the first time at PICNIC. I would have loved to come for meeting, but I am writing my exam on 7th Aug. Weekends are the only times to study.

I have been in banking & finance ind since last 8 yrs. In Canada, I would say 1 1/2 yrs ONLY. But presently working for CIBC. I had been after that opening for quite a long time. I was interviewed by CIBC for like 8 times (3 difft occassions), before actually offering me a position. In my case it was sheer follow up that made it possible for me. I wouldn't say I am an expert, but any suggestions or TIPS abt banking ind., I am ready to share my story. Although I can't come for your scheduled meeting, but I will try to keep in touch. You can surely notify those who is gonna attend the meeting that if anyone wants to contact me, can do either thru PM or by calling me 416-534-8428 (Home), 416-743-4223 X 253 (Work), 416-402-3126 (Cell). I can review resumes, can suggest what courses to take, how to prepare for those courses etc. I mean I would feel happy, if I my thoughts and ideas can be shared for someone else's success.
