I have a question on OCI.
We are currently living in India and I just got my daughter's canadian passport renewed from India.
She has OCI U sticker in her old passport.
We will be returning to Canada in a month's time and I dont have U sticker transfered to her new passport.
I am concerned about the timings of getting U sticker visa renewed from india since we will be leaving the country soon.
Question : Is there any problems leaving India with her old passport with U sticker+New passport? We will do the visa transfer once we are back in Canada.

If your daughter is less than 20 years of age, she has to get OCI registration certificate and visa reissued each time a new passport is issued to her. It used to take 2 months for that process from Toronto, I do not know current timelines now. I had asked CGI, Toronto, what if the person has to travel to India in those 2 months when you are processing this reissue of OCI to which their reply was OCI reissue is mandatory as per Government of India guidelines, they would not answer the travel part.
You can try contacting the FRRO or OCI office in Delhi and see what they have to say in this regard.

Thanks. But, our case is unique that we are not entering India, but, leaving India.
I am trying to contact the folks in Delhi asking for a clarification.

On a similar note, I am living in India and may take a vacation to Dubai / Malaysia soon with 2 kids. One kid has to have his or her Canadian passport renewed in a month. So what is the procedure of having the OCI transferred to the kids new passport in India?
Do I have to do it. I think I read in CD that even though the OCI terms and conditions mandate the need for the U Sticker to be put in the new Canadian passport for children under 18 years, It is sufficing if you just show them the old passport with the U sticker. Can any one confirm?
Peace

As far as the info from the GOI goes, U sticker on the new passport is required for kids (it is not optional). For adults between 20 and 50, it is optional.
