Is anyone aware of an economic, quick & reliable way of sending household goods to India (reason being relocating back).

Shipping or Air which one is more convenient, timely & cost beneficial.
Any references will be appreciated.

Guess somewhere I answered.

Ship through ship.
You may book a standard container ( 20 ft L x 8 ft W x 8 ft H) and ship all your feel like taking things from Canada to India. You may book bigger containers also ... if want to take too many big things .... ( I feel not worth .... )

After months of contemplating and chewing on what is "Happy and Content" for us we made a move back to India after a decade abroad. When it finally crystalized to a checklist to follow, we employed Armstrong Moving to help us with the move. They were very professional and also had a very helpful checklist for things to take care of when moving.

Bombamma,
How much did you have to pay for the customs (bribe) at Mumbai?
I had to pay around Rs.70000 for a value of rs.100000. I had to pay because more than the money it has some sentimental stuff which was worth more than the Rs. 70,000 bribe.

Peace

Good !
I must have shipped my stuff to Mumbai and then brought it to TN by train.
Maybe better luck for me the next time.

To others :
Please avoid tier 2 (Indian) towns as a destination.

Peace

I enquired with Armstrong Moving, & today they quoted $12000 CAD & 6-8weeks timeline, for a 20ft/8ft/8ft container.. (its inclusive of packing, shipping & unpacking). My contents to ship are a lot less than a full container.

Am I doing something wrong, that I got such a high quote, or is this a normal quote. Can you please let us know, what was your cost when you shipped. & ant Telephone No. where I can follow up.

Is there any other way where the stuff can be sent much faster at reasonable cost. A Lower shipping cost will be very helpful.

Any/all suggestion are welcome.

Thanks in advance
