Hi,
I have about 650' lawn in my backyard that is slowly giving up. In place of reviving it with dig and seed, I am planning a quick fix through sodding.
I need to loosen the soil, remove the weeds using tiller, top up the soil ( a lot eroded in years), level it and then lay the sod.
Has any one done this before, how big is a deal for DIY... contractor has an estimate of $1100 or so to lay new sod. I have a feeling it would be less than half of this if I do it myself. No pressure there on spending one full weekend..
Please add your experiences...

Grab couple of friends or neighbors, get beer and pizza and do it yourself. It's not a big deal.
Is it 650 linear feet winding back and forth or 650 sq.ft or 650 feet one direction (this might require more friends and beer !!) ?

Thanks, it is an L-shapred lawn (the Shape 'L' is caused by the Deck, otherwise it would've been straight rectangular).
