Dear CDs,

I am trying to upload a photo (jpeg file) on Quikr while posting an adv. It is giving error message that the photo is more than 4MB size. The photo is about 2,645 KB, per windows explorer. Is there something wrong with the photo? Can I reduce the size a bit?

Yes, But probably you will loose image quality. 2645 KB is less than 4 MB, so it should take it Try again.

If not do following:

(Take a back up of your photo at different location before doing anything)

Open Paint brush, Click Open ---> Select your file you want to reduce

Once you opened your photo in paint brush, Click on the Image ------> Stretch/Skew ----------->

There are 100% in stretch in horizontal and 100 % in verticle. Change the numbers to 50% horizontal and 50 % in vertical. -------> hit Ok

Click Save As with diffrent file name

If you do not want to change the dimensions of the picture, you can download a program called Irfanview from irfanview.ca. Open the picture in Irfanview and click on save as. It will give you option to reduce image quality and it will also reduce image size without changing the dimensions of the picture. If the picture is for the web, you will not see much difference in quality.

there are two easy ways to resize photos

if you have XP then download image Resizer tool from here

or if you have Window 7 then from here

once you have installed this tool then any picture(s) select them and right click and select resize pictures , select the size you want (my recommendation is to select large) , uncheck replace originals option and click on resize .

This will create resized (reduced size) photos quickly while maintaining the quality.

If you wish to reduce size of the photo
1) Go to All Programs
2) Open Microsoft office folder
3) Open Microsoft Office tools folder
4) Select Microsoft Picture manager
5) Select Photo you wish to reduce.
6) Select picture
7) Select resize.
8) select rezise % on the right of the screen to 30%
9) Select save.

This way you can reduce size of the file and I use it often, hope this helps.
