VFS didn't asked for SC, but I became citizen in January of this year & SC is only required for people who became citizens after 31st May 2010.

So may be I am exempt from the requirement of SC

OCI TIMELINE .....

I went to VFS office this week, and they told me it will take 3 months to get OCI.....
is it true ? i m planning to visit India in december, what is ur input ? would i be able to get oci before that if apply now ?

The call centre told me 21/2 months when I called last week.

From the start to the end, it took 23 calendar days to get OCI for myself and my family. We applied from VFS Brampton.

It took 9 days to get the Surrender certificate.

I never expected this to happen this quick.

I think the timelines have increased.

I applied for Surrender Cert on 25th Feb, havent got it yet.

Plan to apply for OCI asap
I have trip planned end of may so hopefully i get my passpost back for the travel before that.

I applied for OCI from Calgary and my jurisdiction is Vancouver.
application date: 2013-10-21
application status as of 2013-11-18 : Processing at Consulate General

anyone applied during the same period ? Please post your updates
