Hi All
A very best friend of mine is a doctor in mumbai, india
He is 30.
He makes minimun 2 lakhs/month profit in his clinic during offseason (that is 3-4 months) other wise makes 3-4 lakhs/month.
His clinic is well established now.
His wife earns 1 lakh a month. His wife is an Architect.
He has appx 5 flats as well good amount of property back home in mumbai.
He is the only son to his parents, and has one year old daughter.
He wants to come to canada now, and is being very stubborn.
Me as well everyone else (his doctor friends) explained him that it would not be a good idea to immigrate here
as he already is well settled back home.
He is planning to come over here on student visa as well wants to do MBA in People Administration *i dont know where the heck he got advised to do this course*.
We advised him a lot about not to go ahead, but somehow, one of his friend gave him a very beautiful picture of Canada.
We explained him, its good Country no doubt, but for him it may not be a viable option as he is already
well settled back home and he lives lavishly.
I advised him to come over here on Visitor Visa and stay with me for couple of months to see if he will be able to adapt, as
he has never lived in his life without maid service and never worked hard, after studying medicine back home he was lucky to
start his own clinic and has established it very well.
I am also afraid, if he comes here and if nothing would work out, he might go back but then his well established clinic would be
like he will have to start it again which would be difficult.
How could i explain him that this would not be a good option for him to immigrate here. I explained him that he will
have to study a lot here to be a doctor as Indian Degree won't be of any value, as well expense to study medicine is too much.
Any and all comments will be appreciated, as i would like to show this post to him with all replies.
HI
I am a doctor-Much older than him -worked in UK now in USA for the past 4 years and moving to Ontario next month bcos both me and my wife got a job at a same place-Waterloo
For me even though I am working independently in USA, Canada has put so many restrictions on my license that it is stifling. For a doctor trained in India if he wants to be a doctor in Canada it is very difficult. He has to give exams and get into residency program-it is much easier to get into residency in USA than in Canada.
If he wants to get into other fields related to medicine like public health he stands a better chance

@newbieca, ASAP take your friend to a good psychiatric in Mumbai and get his head examined.
Nope I disagree with very idea of restraining somebody's desires to move.
Go and sit in the person's head, and also read Maslov's theory of hierarchical needs.
(no philosphy here , pure practical thought, I do not even know correct spelling of philosophy :-) .. While we are thinking of job security, professional success of the subject (the 30 something doctor) , he has achieved that already in early age and looking for something which his surroundings not able to offer.
He can make a plan , and execute it step by step. Should be prepared to do lot of sacrifice and hard work (Why we are judging that he will not be able to make it here ). He got money to survive here for years without working. Can take exams, course on student visa, experience the life here and then decide. Not to forget, His wife is self sustaining individual who can start the career right away.
About well established practice and fear of losing it, I would say he got a talent, proven at young age, he can break and make it hundred times with his talent.
Success has different definition for different people. If he curbs his urge to move at this point, he will come back to the thought every now and then, sulk over drinks and will curse the 'bad' decision of not coming to CA, as his wealth will grow, that thought will be more frequent.
Your duty is to prepare him mentally and show pros and cons. Criticizing will not help.
Personally , with that kind of positive and healthy financial and double skill situation, I'll do the adventure, at the most will lose one flat of five and few years if failed which is highly unlikely but will have unmatched feeling of contention in the end.
