Akali Dal leader Naresh Gujral, had done some real good home work when he came on the Times Now debate. If these are correct, we will have the following figures.
If the government cancels the licences of the 142 dubious allotments and go for competitive bidding, they will get (i.e., the people of the country) 5 lac crores, instead of the 1.86 lac crores estimated by the CAG.
Coal is mined at Rs.450/500 per tonne and sold at 1000/1200 Rs. whereas it is imported at Rs.5500 per tonne. The private companies worth before and after the UPA "screening committee" allotment during a period of 17 months went up, the earlier figures given in brackets.
a. 2600 crores (1 lac 20,000 crores).
b. 3750 crores ( 18,600 crores)
c. 346 crores (19,700 crores).
d.4500 crores (47,500 crores).
e. 21,000 crores (51,250 crores).
No wonder all these businessmen were sitting with stars in their eyes, at any dubious "award" giving function conducted to felicitate the corrupt ministers.
-----------------------------------------------------------------
If BJP Ravishankar Prasad is to be believed about 33 allotments were made during NDA regime, out of which 25 were given to PSU Coal India Ltd.
Even if BJP was involoved in this scam, everyone needs to be punished and the money recovered to the last paise for the people of India.
Meanwhile, Congress minister Kapil Sibal reached new heights when he came on press conference to accuse that the NDA was involoved even a decade earlier.
Will it be justification for committing a crime, just because somebody else committed the same crime in some other place 10 years back.
-----------------------------------------------------------------
Raja had to go for 2G. Maharashtra CM, Ashok Chavan had to resign for Adarsh Housing Society scam. Kalmadi was sent out for CWG.
Why MMS alone should have separate yardstick? The Congress stalled the parliament for one month in the so called Coffingate in 2000. There the money involved was 89 lacs, but even then people had to leave. In Coalgate the money lost is 1.86 lac crore. Ordinary people cannot understand what is so special about MMS or Chidambaam.
-----------------------------------------------------------------
The latest on the Coalgate is that the CBI has been let loose on the beneficiaries and not on the perpetrators, by conducting raids on all their offices simultaneously all over India.
Is it not funny that if nothing wrong had happened, they why this CBI raids.
More funny is that the raid was done on the beneficiaries of the wrong decision and action, and nothing on wrong doers.
Yesteryears even for a remark by courts people resigned from their minister post.
How can CBI functioning be honest when the perpetrators like MMS and Chidambaram themselves or sitting on top of them without resigning. Will anyone have the guts to conduct an enquiry on their own boss, or will they be able to arrest them?
The other day, Chidambaram put up a la "Gowravam" Sivaji Ganesan act, in terming Sushma Swaraj "Chota Maal Mota Mall" remark, as "unforchunate".
He is usually crying or weeping at press conferences and not speaking.
Can any accused cry or weep during interrogation and still keep telling lies?
Only people in the investigation and interrogation business can tell.
Why should the Congress undergo all these?
If only they make Kapil Sibal the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court, all their troubles will be over.
The Congress stalled the parliament for over a month on the Coffingate scam, which was hardly worth 89 lacs and made a person of George Fernandes stature resign.
Later it was proved that the imported caskets were made of metal and not wood and hence the cost difference. The increased cost was nothing for the supreme sacrifice made by the slain soldier. Just like a writing pen/wrist watch which can be bought for Rs.10/Rs.100 or for Rs10,000/Rs. 1 Lac, the coffin too was bought for a high price.
But the Congress and the media would have none of it and made the minister resign.
Now in the Coalgate scam worth the country's Budget, the media is silent and focus only on the stoppage of parliament.
Among all these the Imelda Marcos of Indian politics has flown out, God only knows for what.

The latest we hear is that the CBI Chief himself is entertaining the scamsters in his residence. May be he too belongs to Chambal Valley.
-----------------------------------------------------------------
The Supreme Court has now axed the allocation for 214 out of the 218 coal blocks. Of the remaining 4, one each belong to PSUs namely NTPC and SAIL and the other 2 for dedicated mega-power projects.
The SC has done it very right and we must congratulate the same. Of preventing real estate agents and horse racers getting coal blocks claiming to produce power for their ''units'' the same way like an NTPC or Steel Authority!!
But the caveat is the SC has given 6 months time to the money bags to wind up their operations at the coal blocks. Will the SC be able to monitor what the money bags do to "'Mother Earth"" during these 6 months?.
The money bags may leave no earth let alone coal, at the end of 6 months. Common man can only pray God.

Now probably for the final saga of the coalgate shows a happy ending with the mine owned states have started getting Rs.52,610 crores from the auction of just 11 blocks. There are 204 blocks to be auctioned and over 15 lakh crores are to be garnered over the entire life time of the mines. Added to this there will be a perceptible fall in power tariff and valuable foreign exchange worth millions of dollars spent in importing coal are going to be saved.

However, the government getting richer by several lakh crores does not mean alleviation of poverty for the people of India. Over a period of time, all the lacs of crores are siphoned off to distant lands with successive governments watching and even aiding and abetting the crime.
