hindustani,
Allow me to analyse it for a bit more if you will. My wife and I are 31. Like you I have 2 kids one is 3 and theother 6. Taking care of the kids can take a toll on you if you do it in isolation. We also handle 2 businesses. Its very stressfull! Always remember that with kids....its just a phase! It will pass. All the reponsibilities of catering to 2 small dependent kids, without family help, takes its toll! It is a phase though.

People for those money comes first and peace of mind, relations, lifestyle comes after they will never leave this country. And people who belive in me,my wife and kids, this country is ok for them to live in.

And what kind of person are you...for whom Canada is NOT the right place. What exactly are your priorities? If you are kind of person to be, why are you not happy? Maybe you have already made your mind and cannot adapt so you are blaming everything around you but yourself.

About loyalty to Canada...yes I am fiercely loyal to it. To me Canada is Like a good dad...tough love. India is my mother...I will always love her. I find that people who decide to stay here but have no loyalty to the place are hypocrites. I admire that you go back rather than be one.

On the other hand I totally disagree with you that other races look down upon you. If they do its their problem. I ask this of you...and this is VERY important to understand please reread this...
WHY DO YOU MAKE THEIR PROBLEM YOUR PROBLEM?

Let them deal with it, they need to grow not you!...please do not lose sleep over the same. Honestly, people! It must be something about Toronto!!! I was so dissappointed that people are so hung up on this. The few hours I was in Toronto last week, I witnessed more racism than I have EVER witnessed in Montreal. Never ever, even once, have my friends in Montreal refered to color in the 6 yrs I have been here. I am talking about my desi friends. So there can be 2 conclussions and only one of them is TRUE

1) You guys are right and Toronto is filled with racists (of all colors)
2) The quality of desis I mix with in Montreal are of a higher calibre than in Toronto.

Anyway, the bottom line is again
Do not make someone elses problem your problem and complicate your life even more.

i lived in toronto for over 4+ years. when people talk of racism, i think US is the worst one. may be because i never had to face any racist during my stay in toronto. on the contrary, we had a humiliating experince in detroit from a racist.

one way or other there is a different kind of racist in many of us. otherday, when someone told they hired only xxxxx when they were in a position to hire people, i heard many clapping in approval. that is a kind of racism or favouritism.. isnt it? this discriminative ill has different reasons/names either caste / family / race.. they all are one and same.

...I'm telling you, all the talk about skin color and race that day(at the meeting) made my head spin! I think it put my wife even more off canadiandesi. I had second thoughts about the whole thing too. But decided to stay and fight, maybe try to make people more understanding.

Yes, ... Its more of a Give & Take sometimes.

And as Jake Said, Its Their Problem !!!

I think, If some company rejects me ... then they are at Lost ... not me. There are many other companies but there is ONLY ONE ME.

i feel people suffering with inferiority complex complain/see racism everywhere. many times, they are not ready to accept their inability to fight compitition so, give up totally and blame it on racism.

true, there are racists out there. when you complain about them .. why not complain to respective authorities and try stop/punish them?

i will tell an incident..

in a subway, there was a white artist playing some musical instrument to earn money. an african american gave him some spare change. for that, this artist said "i dont want money from ...." may be because he was not satisfied with the change this AA gave.

AA did not keep quite. he called up the station authority, told him about what that licenced (they have to bid to play in subway stations) artist did and loded a complaint with concerned authorities. that is what i would say true fight against racism.

I only hope we do not talk the same way(about other races) in front of our kids. The things about Kids is...they ARE ALWAYS listening! So we end up passing that rubbish to our kids too! So not only did we make someone elses problem our problem...we also make sure that our kids have the same problem.

Here is a sample of the other side of the equation...talk about East Indian gangs in vancouver. Heard that they had killed an 18 yr old philipino boy a few weeks ago.

I didnt read all the posts in this thread (boy! you guys write long posts!). Anyway I feel very similar to hindustani in his first post.

I myself am thinking of moving to India since the lifestyle here just does not suit me (besides none of the Canadian ladies give me a second look;)).

More seriously, I think everyone has their own taste and hindustani seems to be forcing his choices onto others. Some people who immigrate here love it down here, others like me get bored.

Also for us to like this place, we need to adapt. How many of us take an interest in football/basketball/hockey?, or have taken up skiing and skating for the winter? Really try to mingle with Canadian residents? I know its difficult and I have assimilated but to a small degree hence my frustration.

I think everyone to their own. Who owns I probably will dislike India too :). THough India is booming and within 5 years there will be major migration reversal (already started).
