out of curiosity i went to the LCBO and got PORT wine.
Good one called FONSECA Bin No. 27.Was on sale for 15.95.

I have to say this is really really good.

I also got some blue cheese.

I poured some, cut the cheese and toasted to myself.

Have not tried Fonseca(will do soon)...since I always end up with Grahams Tawny's( wood matured...20 yrs is good) while choosing port wine.

p.s: with port they say you get what you pay for...the older the better...however, I wonder if anybody really cares after a few swings :)

I think I saw that. A little expensive.

Yes good/aged ports are usually expensive..usually with reason. I was unable to find the 40 yr old tawny from Grahams(the few times that I looked)...they are not always available either.

I'm not a great port lover and prefer white/red wines. A recommendation(if you have not tried it already) is a German dry white wine called 'Black Tower'...think its 10-12 cad(750ml).
***Goes nicely with spicy desi cooking***.
Also with soft cheese and whitemeat/seafood.

They also have a red wine which is not bad either.
Got to

and type in Black Tower for info

Anyone else with wine recommendations...especially for desi cooking?

Among the German ones, I like Riesling a lot.
It is dry to very dry and combines well with cheeses (at least for me :)
