I have no respect for bigots like Indira Gandhi and Nehru. They did a lot of damage to the sikhs.

SC,
the events of early 80s were very unfortunate and I agree that a lot of damage was done. But times have changed, the same Gandhi family now trusted Manmohan Singh over others to be the PM . Doesnt this speak volumes about the changed times.

Pratik,
I also do not agree with Reagan type of functionaing i was just talking about his popularity on global level. I feel more than any US presedent Bill Clincton had the best vision for the world and he helped get india opened up to US and west.

Could the scholars in Manmohan Singh or Abdul Kalam rise up above the petty politics and be recognised as the leaders of the developing world.

Time will tell.

In my opinion, Bill Clinton was the best president the USA has had in the past 30 years or so.
I don't think there has been anyone other than John F. Kennedy who can match Bill Clinton - certainly not the likes of Reagan, Dubya and his Pappy, etc.
No other president has had more successful economic and foreign policy than him.
Of course, a lot of crimes were committed during his time (the NATO bombing in Serbia, etc.) but he gave the USA some of the best times that they have seen since the post-war boom.

It is a sad reflection of the US political system and public opinion that a man like Bill Clinton was impeached for having an extra-marital affair (which anyway more more than 50% of American men have !) yet a man like Dubya Bush, who lies to the whole world, commits war crimes next only to the Nazis, is widely regarded as a successful president and has the temerity to ask for re-election.

If this is not kalyuga then I don't know what is.
