Back in my place, pure white outfit on men is considered prestigious be it is on any occasion where in the case of women it is never preferred. It is common for widow to wear pure white (again on women only), such custom is fading though.

True...seems to be a bit of a double standard.
110% true. Absolutely ridiculous custom. Till date, there isn't any life left in India for a widow. Sad but it is true. Life of a young widow (if she happened to have not so sound financial / educational background) is perhaps the most horrible one. There should be movies from all this Bolly/kolly/*** woods about this.

PP,
I'm not a Sikh but Punjabi born and brought up on gurudwara. I don't think wearing white should be a problem at a wedding. Plain white I'll hesitate (may be), but with embroidery, jewelry and make up its fine. I have worn a white myself but with silver sequins which shimmered and silver jewelry. Go for it girl, Punjabis and Sikhs are the most happy go lucky people and times of white, no white has changed (in my opinion), just make sure to keep your head covered in gurudwara.
Enjoy the wedding..........................Jona
If this is addressed to me, the answer is "No", and answer to your second questions is "I really don't know".
My question is "Why you are asking this question and what you are really asking"?

Sindhi's said they were not Sikhs hence their Gurudwara should be spared. For general public anybody who goes to Gurudwara is a Sikh. May be this is your definition of being a Sikh.
Madam how many Sikhs you know of? It is very easy to judge people but you should not generalize.

There seems to be a lot of confusion among people who are non-Punjabi/non-sikh that all Punjabis are Sikhs and its only Sikhs who visit Gurudwara. I have explained this to a lot of my friends that all Punjabis may not be Sikhs and Gurudwara is open to all.
You will see a lot of families who have both Sikh and non-Sikh sons and they all go to Gurudwara. Also there are families who are non-Sikhs and they all go to Gurudwara.
As far as wearing white/Black for weddings goes, it is common in all north Indian cultures(not sure of South) to avoid these colors. However, it is mainly taken care of by the family who has to sit for the pooja and guests are free to wear these colors. So IMO if you have some dress which is white or black but has some embroidery/dupatta/stroll in different color..you are good to go`!
I like to go for vibrant colours for a wedding...its more feminine.
