Related question originated from your passport talk- I was wondering in case of road travel to US , generally there is no stamping on passport and at times no pp swipe. (or did I miss them doing it?? ) How will they verify in such cases on which day I was in US vs Canada ?
Road trips are difficult to verify, if not impossible. I seriously doubt PP swipes can be easily tracked and verified in a straightforward manner. In any case, to err on the side of caution, it is best to voluntarily disclose any absences beyond 24 hours.
My belief is PP swipes are used to bring up any red flags in the system (prior entry denials, undeclared item checks, over stays, etc) against your name.
I would not agree to the below. There have been numerous cases wherein EI receipients have been flagged by Canadian HRDSC for failure to disclose their road trips to USA. If your statement was true, then many cdn's on EI would enjoy in USA. If you go through Redflagdeal website, you can find this discussed in detail.
Donot under estimate the real Canadians.

I was asked to contact FOIA Department USA and get a statement from them for days spent in the US ...It took them 2 months to respond.
