With all of the facts established from the above incident, you will have to make a Police Complaint and report with all of the details of the Passport with approximate date of loss. Hope you have photocopies of the Passport Pages for now and for your Citizenship and future use, as they will be calling for all of the details in those pages.
Hope you have the flight itinerary from your Travel agent for your trip into Canada. Also hope that you have retained the ticket stubs with seat number etc., which could be used to substantiate your trip here for Immigration. Try and obtain all details of landing from the CBSA, in a document format and retain this for your Citizenship and Canada Pension Plan payout.
Also report this loss to the Indian Government, so that they can post an alert into their system and avoid any misuse. You may do the informing to them at the same time and that you will be needing a new Passport and will be applying for it immediately.
Hope this helps you in getting the New Passport.
Freddie.
Thanx Freddie!
I confirmed from Us Embassy they sent my passport after stamping on 12 April.
As you said file in Ambudsman, i did last week and waiting for reply from there.
I just wondering if i go by court can i get some compensation?
please give me reply
Thanx
You sit down and add all of the dollar costs to get another Passport,i.e., Passport Pictures, Postage, cost of a Visa etc., and the delays that are caused, loss of wages for your trip to Vancouver etc., etc., then if the Ombudsman does not provide you with the money, write and tell them you want the difference. Do you know how much it is?
If they say that they are not going to pay that, then you can go to court and ask for the whole (entire) sum.
So sit down and see what you wrote and asked him, if not make a list and the expenses that go with it. You have time now, to sit down and do it.
Freddie.
Not sure how much of a compensation worth. Have had bad experiences myself from Canada Post.
But here is what I Did. I wrote to:
bairdj at parl.gc.ca
(Some ministry)
I mentioned that compesnation/refund was not worth to the time that was wasted and efforts as well.
After 2-3 months received following response from Canada post CEO. It is sad that they keep doing this so for reliable service I have decided to use UPS/Fedex etc..you know where you package is at every step.
IT is funny that their statisitc shows apprx 10% failures..10%...that is big number and very concerning.

Please excuse the delay in replying to your e-mail message to the Minister responsible for Canada Post, which was referred to me. I was concerned to note your comments about our Xpresspostâ„¢ service, which did not meet your expectations. I am very sorry you have had unsatisfactory experiences with a normally reliable service.
An Xpresspost item sent from Mississauga to Sydney , for example, should be delivered in three business days. I noted that we delivered an item one day late in November, and your postage was refunded. I regret that, without more information, we cannot determine the reasons for the other late deliveries you mention. I can assure you, however, that we are making serious efforts to provide the service for which you pay. Overall, we are meeting our targets for Xpresspost delivery standards. Our 2009 target was 90.3% on-time delivery, and our most recent statistics show that 91.2% of items were delivered on time.
As a gesture of our commitment to good customer relations, I am pleased to send you two prepaid Xpresspost National envelopes at your XXXXXXXX address. I hope we can restore your confidence in Canada Post.
Thank you for writing and making your concerns known.
Yours sincerely,
Moya Greene
President and Chief Executive Officer
Canada Post
