Thanks folks for your responses .

Connection times are similar and from the same terminal.

I travelled Etihad and Air India once and I found Air India to be slightly better .. maybe because of the extra legroom ...

Has any one travelled Emirates / Cathay Pacific recently and can they comment on the experience .... In Emirates the A380 - does it make a difference ?

Yes A380 on Emirates was really good, flew twice and found it comfortable as it is a new fleet that had many upgrades and comforts.

JRF - Thanks .. How was the seating ... was it comfortable ? I once traveled Etihad - Air India and found Etihad to be cramped in comparison to Air India ..

Also has anyone traveled Cathay Pacific Premium Economy ? If yes how was the experience ?

Yes, seats were comfortable in Emirates A380.
I did travel in Cathay from SFO to Chennai but in economy, it was good. What's premium economy, I had been hearing about it.

It gave me four hour break in Alaska. Picked up a few Travel books on Alaska. It was bright even at midnight. That was the land of the midnight sun for me. There was a crew change there.

CP food was excellent, had an oriental flavour. Drinks and food was plenty. Movies were the latest. The seats were normal in their premium economy. But the flight was too long. Took two breaks, one in HK. and one in BK.

They have short hops into COLOMBO, and also into CHENNAI. Mumbai is their normal run. I don't recall Delhi in thier itinerary. Never checked it.
Now I don't know what I can do with their travel points.?

FH.

YES, they do fly into ND. http://onw.innosked.com/?show=MAP

Thanks JRF & FH ,

JRF : Premium economy is a new class in some airlines & aircraft between economy and business .. Has wider seats , more seat pitch ( 38" as compared to 32) and 28 seats in set of 2s ... with a different cabin and a better service than economy ...

Premium economy in CP is costing the same as economy on Emirates ( $1500/-) ...

With Emirates the advantage is better aircraft and a possible stop over @ Dubai ( on them) ... With CP it is better class and perhaps more comfortable seating .... hence slightly confused :)

FH: Were the seats in CP premium economy not more far apart than economy ? Having traveled both which one would you recommend from a seating comfort point of view ?

Does any one know if it is possible to select seats on Emirates economy in advance ( more than 24 hrs before departure ) ... with in 24 hrs , the online checking is available .. but wondering if in Emirate it is available any time before that as well .... ?

Here is the seating arrangement. You can see it for yourself.

I enjoyed it. But the flight was so long, I thought it will never end. So also the return. I had a place to stay for a day at HK. So, the break was nice. HK and BK was really hot. Dubai was muggy and too hot. Canadian summers are too good, I enjoy the same here, but too short.
