FH.

Hello FH,

Thanks for your detailed research and offer to help everytime fellow CDs have a question.

I tried this place to get a quote - my experience is 50-50...

1. They DONT give you online quote - whatever travel dates you enter, they show the lowest fares for that sector for some obscure date/flight times/ duration. I take that information with a pinch of salt - BAIT & SWITCH.

2. You CANNOT book online - you need to call their phone - which is a regular travel agency.

3. They will take your phone number and email. Will email the quote later.

I will update this post after I receive their quote on email.

Until then, I would give them a B&S grade for not being clear on their website about their process.

Appreciate the valuable information you posted FH... learn new something everyday :)

Say for instance you run a travel agency and just have one helper and you have to pay an annual salary of $30,000... then, they have to make a minimum of $100 per ticket that s/he sells, just to cover her salary. Then there is an overhead, so on and so forth. So, they all flog us for a couple of hundred bucks, somewhere along the line. These are the facts.

If you know a Good Travel Agent close by, use him, that is my best suggestion to you. ( There are no bucket shops here that we always knew back home.)

I did get a quote for $890 yyz-bom for 15 Jan 2014, but then they say you have to fly with some one specific and they also throw a curve ball, Only ONE BAG check in. Also subject to fuel surtax etc.,

EMIRATES A380 : Just a few days ago they opened up a new flight schedule from TORONTO to NEW DELHI service and I have yet to hear more about their flights and the costs. (I still see theat they are using the B777 Shuttles out of DUBAI) But I have travelled their economy class and upto DUBAI and then a shuttle to india. It was really good. Costs a bit more, but it was a direct flight with a switch at dubai. No airports could handle that big an aircraft then. They must have improved their infrastructure at the Indian End. Things are improving but slowly. These airlines can compete with any and all of the others. They have tonnes of Petrodollars and they also can buy tonnes of fuel at rockbottom prices and more so when they have their base of operations there in DUBAI or anywhere close by, in the M.E.

We in Canada are still flying the old clunkers and they are gas guzzlers and with 30 years under their belts, all of ther staff are milking the fare paying pasengers just to feed the top few in their companies. We are an oil producing nation and yet, the international flights do not get the duty free benefits on overseas flights and that goes for the smokes and the booze too. The business acumen and enterpricing environment has evaporated. The only way they have found that they can make more money is by cutting the newspapers and magazines off their racks and charge TEN BUCKS for a Katie kabab and a coke. B & S you say, I don't know what to call this, could it be NICKEL AND DIMING. (N & D)

Keep us posted about the fares that you receive over the e-mails. Yes we are also feeling the drop in dollar value currently, so expect a 10% hike in CAD.

Thanks for the detailed response FH ..

a. Last time when we travelled with a toddler , we were informed that the front seats were not available and were surprised to find that they were occupied with non children accompanying passengers .Wonder why ?

b. Is it true that the seat before the exit row also has more legroom although a drawback is - it cannot recline ?

c. I was thinking of Jetair as they have a direct flight from Del - Tor but still open.

d. I like the idea of paying more for a bigger aircraft and travelling comfortably in economy class .. I wonder if search engines like CheapoAir provide a sort on the size of the Aircraft .... FH - Are you aware of any Airlines flying these Aircraft on the DEL-TOR route ?

Thanks Folks ...

The EMIRATES, I saw in the news, have started to fly the A380's into New Delhi, just a few days back. They might have missed the inaugural day, but might have started them from the second day. So, it will be good to find out from the Emirates booking offices, or as we say, straight from the Horse's mouth as to the Airbus's flights into ND. The last arrival in ND was a B777. hence my doubts. But they do substitute any leg with any aircraft, depending upon the volume of passengers on that flight.

Yes, all of the FLIGHTs that are ticketed do provide the Aircraft that you fly in on that day. They also provide you with the seating schematics on that flight, but these bulkheads are not fixed in some and they move them to suit the higher class passengers seating requirements.

Some of the Employees who take a trip, play a lot of games, as they seem to have some clout and they switch the seatings to suit their needs. But you will end up with an EXTRA seat for the Baby. You are not cheated off the baby seat.

I must say - Full House - how do you provide such detailed and knowledgable replies to various queries? We all have the same Google God - but you seem to have some special arrangement :)

Dear Geetakhanna... I walk through my websites regularly and on a few days that I miss, I double up on the next. Some of the information stays embedded in the back of my mind. From this I developed a technique to archive some of the information that we all look for in a 'draft' with the appropriate date stamp in that mail. AND it helps. That is how I gather and collate my data and information. Then I go one step deeper to put a positive touch.

Once in a way I enter the brain of the poster, that is very rarely that I do and when I do that, I get to see what he sees, but not him/her. That is a technique you will have to learn to develop and only a few can learn that. Also you can develop images within your mind by staring at a screen and see if you can reproduce the the same once more with all of the colours and all of the details. When you do that you have developed a system called Photographic Memory. Some can go back and tell you where and what page that word or phrase occurs. These are God given gifts and the desire to help others is the utmost reason that I appear here to respond to you all. Hope this explanation will suffice.

And I used to live next to a WINE factory called Andre's wines. Here is a small ditty to remember the scrap news... :

You can also play the original by Credence Clearwater...

Thanks for asking.

Thanks for all the info FH esp for Emirates & A380 ..It appears that Emirates is flying A380 b/w Dubai & Toronto ... Delhi to Dubai is a smaller one but the time also is only 3.5 hours .

Further research revealed that if your layover is greater than 8 hours , Emirates provides free hotel & Visa ..Incidentally , they also have connecting flights which have a layover of 21 hours ...

I m thinking of using this 21 hour delay flights so that my parents can visit Dubai also and spend a night there on their trip ... Plus from Dubai to Toronto its an A380 which is expected to be more comfortable in a long haul flight ..

Emirates is slightly expensive but I guess for the comfort and the free rendezvous its worth it ....
