Interesting article. The article questions whether a promise of luxuries after life can motivate a person in this life.
Personally, I do not believe any promise assuring me a future benefit and I would laugh off any promise of luxuries that will come my way after life. However, I acknowledge that I am slightly “different” from normal people (you can guess it from my duel with Kejri crowd). The article itself does not conclude and leaves us to make a guess.
I have always wondered what motivates terrorists to resort to inhuman and barbaric acts. Is it such promises of life of luxury after death? Anger against successful cultures? Misinterpretation of religious books and verses? Desire to regain glories of Ottaman era? Lack of emotions and compassion? Money and power? Acute desire to live off someone else’s labor (Just like our communist and socialist friends)? Some defective genes which prompt them to behave the way they do? It is time some psychologist make the comprehensive study and come up with a profile. There are enough sample rotting in Guantanamo. If Obama does not grant access, then Pakistan and Somalia has sufficiently large number of sympathisers who could be bribed that they may volunteer. Another study should also be made of people who either support or at least never condemn the acts of terrorists. They can, for that purpose, select either Digvijay, Mamta, MMS or Kejri.
I am confused. I honestly do not understand what prompts a terrorist to commit a barbaric act. If someone knows on CD, they may share their opinion.

Before this thread gets locked or totally gets removed, I want to say, that topics like this, when discussed, is like stirring up an HORNETS NEST. You never know who will get stung by it and when and how.
There is no rhyme nor a reason to commit an act like this or repeat them over and over again. When they do, it is being done with a vengeance. Also anyone who speaks for or against it gets shoved into a category that he does not deserve to be in. Because, first of all, should not be discussing a topic of this nature in the public forum.
Way back, 1500 years ago, when a farmer furrowed his fields and planted the seeds in the soil and covered them to keep the animals and the birds away from eating them, he and his action was called a KAFIR. This term has taken a very bad connotation and currently being used to denote a non believer. Therefore elimination of an individual, after being given that title is like giving a dog a bad name and shooting it. Though they may belong to the same race or religion, they are not spared, hence there is no distinction being made when they commit such atrocities.
So, why do they commit such acts.? Because they are on a mission to kill or get killed. The last man standing wins. And the victor wins all of the spoils. Will they enjoy such gains? and where will they take the winnings? The next question is "Do they have a place to hide"? Because they will be hunted down like wild animals! There will be no peace till they all will be found and eliminated.
SIX thousand years ago when they spewed out their thoughts in the form of chants, people absorbed them and regurgitated them to the next generation. (There was no paper or pens or palm leaf and a scriber to write and leave it for the posterity) It became the ultimate truth for a few to follow.
2015 years ago when a guy got crucified, they started writing on parchment about him and his speeches and added a few of their own verses to it and each version was collated and preserved, which became the Gospel truth for a few.
1400 years ago a guy descended from the mountain with a speech which was preserved and became his sayings and the followers hung on to it like dear life and anyone who did not believe in him was ostracized and in most cases was killed and eliminated.
Now in the current day in the schools and in temples, churches and mosques and synagogues and if I left others in this paragraph, it is not that I don't know the others, because it gets too much to pen in one letter, every religion and their places of worship, that is why!.. we all get brain washed by the Preachers, the Reverends, the Mullahs and the Rabies where in they are made to uphold the old traditions and maintain their religious beliefs.
Now the newer generation that walks out of any school asks, first and foremost "IS there a GOD" or is it the figment of ones imagination?? There is no concrete proof that HE exists. So, is it the faith that keeps us all going? Faith in what?
"QUO VADIS"? So, go anywhere and do anything you want and pay for the same with any consequences. The ultimate price is "Ones own life" So, go with guns blazing and expect the worse. When they shoot down the Iraqui soldiers who they take them as prisoners, like shooting the ducks with a toy pistol in an Arcade, the religion does not enter the picture, it is the political faction that gets drawn into the picture. In other areas it is the religion. And who are these guys that do it? They are the mercenary who band themselves together to commit atrocities. Loot, Plunder, Rape and Pillage with their faces hidden under a mask.
You remember the guy in a RED ROBE with a Galero and with fifteen tassels on each side, yes he had the same role as the one described above and now he is held in great esteem. How come? May be times do change and people get promoted. He belongs(ed) to the Catholic Religion.They became Cardinals.
So many sins have been committed in the name of religion by ever so many people and now when we ask "IS THERE A GOD"? we draw ourselves back and just slip away from the scene. Because there is no answer to this haunting question and Science has no proof as yet to bring forward and people want to go the way of the religion and die peacefully and let the family take care of the bodies in the normal dignified way they do it for one and all, as they do for the others in their religion.
When you came you came alone, even if you are one of the twins, and when you go you go alone, just a millionth of a second apart.
Once upon a time this place belonged to the Local Indians.They lived peacefully till we all came and called it Canada.

If writing 55 lines of poetry merits 17 years in prison, then the reward is handed down right here. No one has returned back to tell us what the rewards are in the after life. It is all a figment of their imagination. That is written well to remind the society, may be just to keep them in line. (There must be a big line up some where.)
Thinking about Hell ,heaven, super power and life after death is a form of mental illness & lack of intelligence to think and assimilate on own.
Previous generations, lacking information, dazed and confused were scared of things unknown, passed on their scares down the line , and we are roaming around scared !
How come All these concepts originated long long back and nothing new is being discovered ?
Let me coin something here , After life there is a hell (Red) and there is a heaven (Green) and there is also a place for neutrals (Yellow), People who sinned but also showed compassion, people who first hoard money (sin) then do charity. Plenty of them, where will they go ? Start believing in a Neutral place after life , you will be at peace. :-) Na you will not, you are scared. Continue as your mahan purakhs did.
