Backpacking is a real thrill; a trait I have learnt here from the Canadians. In fact, these guys even taught me the art of living in Hostels ! Believe me, its great staying in a hostel rather that with ur Chacha and Mama etc. (Hope you are getting the point)
---------------------------------------------------------

Okay forget paki,, leave him alone though he is masters.
But about backpacking I have learned back home when I used to have least money in my pocket, i have been to himalayas, kodai, western ghats, nagaland, manipur etc. there was no canadian to teach me. \

Well back packing only those who do have 2000 $ in pocket and want to travel for 6 months. I understand the fun of backpacking , but it doesn't mean i don't bath for months. i walk in schorching heat with 40 kgs on my back, Well art of living in hostel -- only those thugs who sell their undies in goa for drugs.... Please don't take it personally you have learned backpaking now for good reasons, but it is not real adventurous or eco holidaying as far as I consider.

Tell me why china has completely invaded canada in every products, where canadians are going to be? in tim hortons, or strip tease clubs?

i guess the chinese have even invaded Tim's and strip clubs!!!!
really though ff...with this attitude, why do you still continue to live here. If you can't be positive abt the country then i hate to say it...but leave. don't be a judge of people that are willing to make sacrifices.

i too do not agree with the fact that canada does not recognize a whole lot other than canadian exper. that is unfortunate in my mind coz india and many other countries have better talent. bottom line is many people come here for many reasons...qauality of life being the main one. a lot of desi's do it for their kids. hats off to them. a good attitude can be an immigrant's best asset. this country is built on that premise. heck if the us offers you a good working contract...take it....but don't just come here to get citizenship and leave. why should you invest so many years slogging it out if you never want to live here?

Well I am and I was here only for making money, which i am doing it even sitting outside canada. I am able to count my days in my pr status as I am almost out for my business trips. Quality of life is no doubt better than India as life is more secured here plus personal life also has some better moulds.

But the very fact that not many immigrants are respected with their home qualification , education and experience. They are just here to increase the declining population of Canada.

what canada need is 100,000 fork lift drivers, 100,000 clerks, 100,000 customer service agents . 100,000 drivers, 200,000 factory labours which are very very scarce. Most of native canadians do not marry and different life styles so the future population is declining and work force is very very scarce.

this is the motto of Canadian govt. not that they want to give you good life. and moreover you are paying huge taxes including the money you bought in. for such lavish taxes if you have little better life then no big deal. I am always thinking positive, but few facts all of us must need to consider and ponder on. How long India will keep sending their cream to Canada for labour jobs, pizza delivery boys, fork lift drivers... jus because good life ... agree it is better than India, but what is your identity here.... a refugee, or an immigrant!!!!!! Money is not everything, personal quality of life is not everything... What you need is self-respect apart from little money to survive.... I am not trying to discourage people. i am been reading so many things on this forum, everything positive to encourage new immigrants , even the hidden truth is something. But the real fact is that you have to wind up all your degress, fold up all your experience in trash and just for litle good life: sacrifice all your self-respect, your professional carrier, your intelligence asset.....?

Still I am proud to be canadian immigrant.. part of canadian cheap work force....!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!?????

fact is fact... nothing to relate to my own experience or life.. i have better life, better self-respect, no one can lay me off from the job...

let us discuss things honestly then just talking things to console ourselves. There are some negative aspects we need to ponder on , at the same time not being totally pessimistic. we all are optimistic and can do better than any one in the world.. Jai hind.

ZG, pray tell me why not ? If I, as a student could invest some of the best years of my life and get what I want..why should others not do that also ?

IMO, this is the only good thing that can happen if you are in Canada. Desi's and other immigrants are exploited every way by the "Canadian System" (whatever that may mean). At least, Indians who come here have a few brains to work themselves out of the system :) I will be very unapologetic that I came to Canada in 1998, leaving a higly lucrative Phd offer in Germany, with the sole purpose of applying to a US university. I could not do that. So I settled for the next best thing..i.e., slogged it out for my Ph.D under a very astute person ( and that I would say was my good luck). IN the process, immigration, citizenship, everything came along !

Rule of thumb..
Come here and get a North American degree..,
Make sure you have 1 year of experience from India (or the USA)
Apply for immigration (or land here as an Immigrant),
Pursue your Ph.d (which may take 3-4 years if you are patient)
Apply for citizenship en-route and Voila !
..you are in an envious person

I dunno abt others so I cant speak for them :), but if you are a student, this is probably the best country for you (Australia being the next) !
