Though I am a mechanical engineer and would be focussing on my profession related jobs. Since no one can say for sure how long it may take, so in order to have a standby arrangement to meet my living expense, I would like to do some security courses in parallel to my job search. Please tell me the whole procedure and respective offices in GTA. Thanks

Which security course ?
IT or normal security guard course.
If it is the latter, you need to get some licence and CPR certificate which is mandatory.
Once you get it, the question is : Is it easy to get a security guard position? That is a million $ question which our senior desi's based in GTA will answer. Now a lot of these positions goes to parents of immigrants who love easy jobs. Having a car may help as you stand to have a chance to be employed in places where bus access is not there and hence poor people and parents of immigrants will not go. I am talking about 2002 status.
However let me give you a tip. Panam games are coming and they will do temporary hiring of security guards for those events. It may be just for 1 months but you will get 12 hour shifts. Easy money. I made such easy money in 2002 where I was there for the pope's visit to Toronto. I got 1050$ for working for just 10 days (12 hr shifts) and totally tax free.
During 2007/08 recession, no one was able to get any jobs.
But better still (I read in Redflag deals), if you can afford a car, then be a pizza delivery guy. Good salary (under the table), great tips (again non taxable). Bribe the manager to give you the best routes. People made like $ 600 in a weekend (fri, sat, sunday)

This is a basic job which most of the new immigrants opt for initially. Oct to Dec is the most busy season.

Dear TK, yes I am talking about security guard licence. One of my friends also suggested me to be a pizza delivery guy until I don't get job in my profession. Can you explain a bit on how it goes, like do I need to undergo any interviews or it's just a walk in job and you start working rightaway.
Dear Delhite, thanks for the link, I am not use whether we can do such corses from private security agencies or should be from a govt approved one.
Compare the fee between Licensed Agencies (real security companies) and community college. Avoid private career college. If the fee is almost same, contact real security company who have vacancy. Avoid the companies who only conduct the training course and don't provide employment. Check their client list to make sure they are real security company. A few years back, they use to provide training without upfront fee and deduct the fee from salary.
Community college should be the second choice.

Get a car and a map / GPS. Drive well and know the areas . Go to any Pizza shop near your house and ask for job. Careful that they donot give you week day jobs where you will be able to make only 50 % money.
Rate is generally $6- $ 10 an hour + Gas +tip.
Another jobs is Desi gas station attenedant. $ 10- $ 12 per hour in cash, You can use your credit card on his machine to get money to send to Pakistan and also get points. You have around 40 days to pay and also you can transfer your credit card balance into un secured credit (under special scheme) to pay 1 % to 6 % interest for a limited time
