This is regarding the low math IQ that is prevalent in North America.

I myself am just an average student in Math. I am not dull but certainly not clever or gifted in Math.

This is regarding my time at a builder in Kitchener in 2010.

My manager was a Cuban who took the boat to USA and then to Canada when he was a baby. He was a very clever Architect who could design well and do working drawings with ease.

However when it was time to cross check any dimension on the paper print he always used the calculator. He used to admire me or easily totalling small additions like 3'-0" + 2'-9" + 10" + 3'-6" + 1'-9" + 14'-3" from memory. He always used to say " You Indian's are good in Math".

Any stories like this in Canada from other CD's?

I was surprised when I found a grade 6 student summing 12,6,8 on fingers.

So true, that is why all the Newtons, Einsteins, Franklins, Edisons, Teslas, Gates, Ritchies, Curies, Jenners have come from India and china.

I have taken a few university level mathematics courses. The Canadian students from math graduate/undergraduate programs were way superior to desi mathematics students(that was a few years ago).

However when it comes to donkey math, we are better. Most Canadians suck at math and lack basic counting skills. Cashiers are somewhat better, though even they would get confused when I would give them an additional 17 cents to get back an even 50 cents.

By next generation, India will have morons who will not be able to count(much like North Americans) and at the same time India will not be able to off-set these morons with brilliant mathematicians, meaning our university level education will continue to stink.

However, I also observed many illiterates performing all their basic daily math needs quite effortlessly. There is some predisposition towards mathematics by desis, much like jewish people.

Is it true that in NA , Indians & Chinese are the most visible people excelling in technical courses ??

I recall Obama speaking some years back of the urgent need for upgrading education standards to be able to meet those coming from India & China.

I have had some dismal experiences with cashiers who mis counted here (not in the GTA but Halifax) on a no. of occasions..... A local grocer in India never made a mistake while counting on paper with pen / pencil.

True for engineering, medical residencies and some applied science progs. But at the really top levels of research, Americans and Europeans dominate. However, a lot of American researchers of late are of Chinese extraction and to some extent of Indian origin.

Again true. The problem is that more educated the people in India(or even in NA) get, the stupider in life they seem to get. I do however, on cursory basis, feel that Indians, Chinese and Jewish folks are predisposed towards maths.
