This exercise you are about to venture upon, will only give you the pleasure of carrying something that cost you very little and making it work there in India and claim that it did work satisfactorily, because you are a TV. Technician. I do admire the same.
In my opinion it is an exercise you will be undertaking, very much so, in futility. The Critical factors are detailed below for your consideration.
Currently, any baggage you carry for personal use, is worth $100 to you in Baggage allowance. So, check and see how many they will permit you from your carrier. If it is just one suitcase weighing 23 KG, then this TV, if it weighs that much or under, after packing it securely for Cargo holds, will be all you can carry for free.
If it is TWO such items , then you will lose one such suitcase in your free baggage allowance. Most of the Airlines currently do permit you to Take two such suitcases, on trans Atlantic Flights. But they will once again charge you on internal flights, if the ticket you book is not a through flight.
Then the breakage factor enters the picture. Though the carriers do take care, it will be worth the additional Insurance through your Travel Agent at the time of booking. You have to protect the TV and all oft the corners. The original packing materials do have all of the features, so look for one or make a trip to the nearest TV re-sellers and scour their discarded packaging materials. (Carry your requirements with proper dimensions.)
You will have to go through all of the Red Tapes, so, before you pack the used T.V. get all of the Back plate details. Do that on a Smart Phone or from the Original Manual. The Custom Officers will believe you when you show them the manual and the smart phone pictures too. Alternately, when you are packing, make a cut out of the Back Panel, and paste it back with Heavy Duty Masking tape, which you can peel to expose at the Customs Inspection station and re-tape it to close the Packaging material.
You can get the new Baggage rules from teh Travel Agent and the current exemptions from them. The Exemptions seems to be Rs.35,000 and the tariff is 30% or there about. It will be good to know in advance.
Now to the Technical details. :
You often see on your appliance plugs, two prongs, one of which is wider than the other. This is done so that it can be properly aligned with a receptacle. The smaller narrower pin is for the "hot" black wire and the larger wider one is for the "neutral" white wire. You have to know that this is very important when it comes to wiring new appliance plugs or receptacles as it assures that the current flow is proper through that device. You ought to note that there are certain devices or appliances that have circuitry, such as, Coffee Machines, Alarm clocks, Computers, TV'sets etc., if the hot and neutral wires are reversed, damage can occur to these appliances. Do not "clip" polarized plugs to fit into a two (2) prong receptacle or a receptacle not designed for polarized plugs. This is to protect the people who use them or touch it some times.
The 50 Hz supply which is used in India does not help much when you carry a TV for your personal use there. The two systems that we know are standards here and also in the U.S. But it will look for a transformer, which is required to step down from 220 Volts to 110 V. Sometimes the difference between the two frequencies though are not that significant, but might generate more heat at the back of the TV as it struggles to match up the cycles.
So, look for a Step Down Transformer that will accommodate the TV Plug. Don't fry the TV after lugging it to India. Again, it will be an exercise in futility.
Some TVs have Video Cards that can be replaced for PAL/NTSC. You are a Teckie and can tell us if this machine has one. Some have a FLIP Switch, you can see it on its rear. A few have a removable cover, insides which you can read and do all of the changes.
Good Luck. Tell us how it went when you get a chance.

Yesterday, prior to my posting to you, I was on a lot of websites and retained tons of information prior to posting. I could not delve any deeper into it as it calls for Serial Number etc., as required by them from the TV that you have there. But it will come handy and will also be useful after you reach your destination. Hope this helps.
