Last week i went to my family doctor and requested a copy of the blood work report. The lady said it costs 1$ per page and that too pay only in Cash.
I asked them to send a report by mail or copy it in USB and she refused it.
staples charge less than these guys!
Just want to know from members if this is legal and is there any place to complain about this issue...
Any thoughts?

Good luck.

It is legal to charge for copy of your own records. How many pages are we talking here? Probably we are talking less than $5.
At some places like hospital, it starts with minimum of around $25.
If it is a lot of pages and they wanted an exorbitant fee, you could have negotiated or complained about it.

$1 per page is nominal. It cost dollars & staff to take prints.
Doctors are not obligated by default to hand over the medical reports to patients , particularly in this age of centralised record keeping . Can share with hospitals and specialists though on demand.
Most of the medical clinics here are private enterprises and they have local rules.
For example for a new born baby till the health card comes in hand some clinics charge refundable $40 per visit, some other clinics do not charge such fee. One general clinic I know will give you an appointment for morning 9 am but doctor herself will arrive at 10 am, this is observed more than once.
Few things in life , You can criticise but you cannot complain officially.
I understand that this is legal. If i print 50 pages, don't you think 50$ is too much. Doctor office obliged to keep the records of documents. I accept for few scernarios. Especially doctors in Canada who is making lot of money should not charge too much for printing...
//Doctors are not obligated by default to hand over the medical reports to patients //
Patients are entitled to get their records....and doctors suppose to handover the document when asked.
Do your tests at Lifelabs. They have free online access which you can print off..
And I always do at lifelabs. It also has analytics to plot the graph of of your readings etc. It is really good.
