Thanks all for your input.
This will give an indication as to how the doctor's office bill the Govt. for taking care of you.
It is so easy for us to go to hospitals / walk ins and get FREE consultation. EVery swipe that they do with your OHIP card, your tax $' goes away.
I remember how I used to use my OHIP card. I go to a walk in at Dundas and Hurontario and they will swipe your card to see a GP. $ 30 gone from the Govt. coffers. Then the GP recommends me to see a specialist. Swipe again $ 50 gone. So in jut 20 mins., $ 80 is gone. Then there is a prescription. My extended health insurance pays for the medicines. I co pay $ 8
Compare it with India. I go to a local hospital Rs.70 consultation. MEdicine, I pay Rs 150 or so. In the place where I stay, due to many people having gone to the Gulf, even govt. hospitals are empty.

Blood presure.
Last week I went to a camp for blood pressure checking. The charge was sRs 20. They found that I was suffering from 150/100 blood pressure and told me to go to see a doctor.,
I went to the same hospital as above. The charge was Rs 70. It was Casulaity division.
The doctor took 2 reading. Left hand and right hand. She said that the hand that you use most will have higher pressure.
Left hand - 140/90
Right hand - 150/ 94
I told the doc. that I will diet and bring it down as I had HBP since 2001.
Right now, I am substituting fried foods for fruits and veggies.
Looking for Rajcanada to advise me as I have seen him advising medical stuff.

Thank San Hugo.
She first asked me in which hand the reading 150/100 was taken. I said the left (I use the right the most). So she said that if the right hand was taken, it should be even more as it was the hand that I used and that it will show more pressure (which was found to be true in my case).
However in KW, when I was tested with my family doctor in 2008, the doctor had an automatic machine which took some 12 readings in a span of around 30 minute. The doctor averaged it to find the true blood pressure (Which was normal at that time). He took it in my left hand.
Waiting for Rajcanada to share his thoughts on this.

TK, you should follow up with your doctor every couple of months if you are avoiding medication and trying to lose weight to see if you are making any progress or not. Blood pressure is something you should not take it lightly.

TK, it will be well worth a visit to a Doctor and also go through one such tests and get all that you want to know about your current personal health and the High Blood Pressure that you are experiencing. The test may cost a few hundred rupees and it is well worth it.
And, if s/he prescribes any medication to control it, the cost will be negligible there in India. A month's worth of medicine will be only a buck or two(Canadian) and if you have no coverage. But it gets into your health records, remember that.
After the tests etc., you will have a clean bill of health for a long time. Also, you might have saved yourself a lot of problems later on in life, if they find any problems with your heart. So, do not put this one off.
Here is an article worth reading. : *
Take care,
