From the OP, it would appear that scamsters have every information including card number, phone number of card holder, address, card issuing bank, date of expiry except the 3/4 digit code that is back of the card and I find it strange!
If they
already have all that information, then you are anyway in deep s****.
Very few e-commerce websites ask for the 3/4 digit signature panel code.
Most ask for the CC number, the expiration date and the billing address.
In fact, the only time I have to read the signature panel code is when I call the credit card company - no one else asks for it
I wonder why the scamsters (if this is true in the first place) are even bothering with the signature panel code - give me just the CC number and the billing address and I'll clean-up your A/C without a trace

What is your point?
a) OK!!!...Its info for those who arent aware of what it is !!!
b) Building up on this link it states that " And, as of spring 2005 you'll notice that more and more merchants accepting VISA cards over the Internet, phone, or by mail will ask for this number."
But last time in a retail store, i noted that the cashier entered these numbers too when the bill was paid. Guess since its ON-THE-CARD and viewable, doesnt stop the retaliers from grabing it and using it to run an additional check which they dont need to.
It defeats the purpose tho :Objective being to use it to verify that u r in position of the card.
Also, Again as some extra info: Here is the LUHNs Formula that some folks might find interesting:

The issue being discussed is the OP saying that scamsters ask
only for the security code and manage to commit fraud.
To that I asked how is it possible to scam a person without knowing the other "more" relevant details of the credit card than just the security code.
As has already been said, the security code is only for
added security.
I wonder where the OP is. I am surprised at people who start a thread and then vanish.
And
pratickm, I wonder if you are aware that this smiley

you use sometimes is called the 'embarrassed smiley". Just wondering. Same with
bison's "stick out tongue" smiley in his sig. I asked him but he seemed to have got offended.

Dude... Some folks stay CONFUSED

for no apparent reason
And from ur comment, looks like u've been

for quite a while.
Dont u have better things to do then to analyze others signatures or comment on their smilies? Looks like ur out of topics
Heres my answer : If there was another smiley available that showed "DISGUSTED BY CYNICS", i would use it !!! Next best is a "stick out tongue" to express disgust, or to taunt or tease the CYNICS!!!
Just kiddin here dude... take it easy... and move on...

To me, knowing first why you have put a smiley in your sig and second knowingly chosen to have "sticking tongue out" smiley in that, is indeed intriguing.
I haven't known many with a smiley in their sig and that too with a "sticking tongue out" one.
So don't blame me if I am mystified.

Now I have to ask you - Dont u have better things to do then "to express disgust, or to taunt or tease..."??
Dude, you are most welcome to stick out your tongue at me. But don't you realize that since it is in your sig, you are actually sticking out your tongue at
everybody??
Just kiddin...but really, what goes?
