Hi All
Good day!
I have been thinking of entering the trucking industry but have not been able to get the driving license from Montreal because they wish to have atleast three years Canadian driving experience. (Class 5 or above, which I think means G or equivalent in Ontario)
What is the scene in Ontario and how should one get a driving license for Trucks ( Class 1)?
Please elucidate.
Thank you very much for your effort and time.
With warm regards.

One needs a G licence and thats it no time frames.
In Ontario especially there are numereous Truck Driving Schools which have come up but if u r serious go for Humber only .It may sound expensive but it is worth.

If you have no license from India or other country then you have to first give G1 (similar to learning license in India). Then you have to wait for 8 months at least to appear for road test to get G2 (if you get certificate from approved driving school), otherwise wait time is 1 year. Then you have to wait for 1 year to appear for road test for getting G license.
If you have driving license from India or other country that is more than 2 years old, then you can appear for G or G2 after getting G1. No wait times in this case.

Hi Mr Rajcanada and Mr Mohanjeet
Good day!
Please do accept my sincere thanks for the info.
I have class four driving license here in Montreal and was trying to get it upgraded to Class 1 for the trucking business but they tell me that I have to wait for another two years to be eligible for one. I was trying to find out the possibility of getting it from Ontario ( the authorities here would not accept my Indian experience here).
But yes, the website was of help and I think I will try and get Ontario license, though costlier to get, for they donot have any such time constraints.( as far as I know).
Thank you very much for time and effort.
With warm regards.
