Hi Friends,

Cananot we have any contacts at higher level in the companies so that our hard earned degrees and experienve of India is appreciated by the canadians? it seems from the information at the site that there are a lots of agents and agencies who control the labour availability and their earnings and have devised a mechanism to exploit the newly arrived immigrants.

we know that these kinds of agents exists everywhere in the world and they show the big dreams to persons to extract the money for themselves. So, if we have any people reaching higher levels or have any contacts with the managemts and unions in Canada, we can try reach them with the facts and sk for better direst deals for ourselves.

also we should bring to the notice of the canadian govt the conditions of the new immigrats and the explotions by the canadian agenst etc.

Action in right right direction is required.

I am wondering what's up with you guys in the east.

These figures are very much attainable here in Alberta. If you have oil and gas experience and you are an engineer from your home country (you do not have to be P.Eng.) you can easily get these dollars.

I know non-P.Eng. engineering degree holders getting close to 100k - remember, I am not talking about software engineers.

Many engineering diploma holders are getting over 50K.

Why don't you contact some people on this board - you can send Private Message (PM) or you can email them.

Also check the Samaj Listing on this site for Calgary and call any temple and/or Samaj, you will get enough information.

Some of the members I know from Calgary are Yogesh Upadhyay, Desihoon and summan.

Hi,
I am a Gujarati IT Professional from new york visiting Calgary from May 23rd to 26th. If anyone is interested in networking during this period, let me know... I can share my knowledge of the IT field over here in the New York area...
I am not only looking to network professionally, but with other Calgarians in general. You just need an attitude to share and see how we can help each other.
Let me know if are interested.. PM me

Well, one needs to do their homework properly before packing and buying an air ticket to Toronto.

I moved to Calgary recently from Toronto. Pay is very good, I am paid nearly 200k / Year which I could not imagine in Toronto. I am a P.Eng and PMP but I see many of my colleagues getting some decent salaries who are not P.Eng or PMP.

If you are in the energy/power /oil & gas sector field, you may think of moving here. I am from manufacturing background but they still considered my skills as transferable.

By the way, Calgary is a very good city and I like it. There are a good number of indian restaurants, groceries, DVD shops .... though it is a bit colder compared to Toronto.

That's really good to know that these salaries are attainable for skill sets other than IT. PMP/P.Eng is worth it from the above post.
