This is for new immigrants and would be immigrants. It seems that Brampton and Mississauga have been flooded with new immigrants and it is hard for find EVEN LABOUR JOBS. Situation for office jobs is tough because of lack of Canadian education or experience.
Living and surviving in GTA has been very, very tough for the last 3 months after I have landed in November. I am not even able to find labour job easily if I lose one as temporary worker. If I do get it, it does not usually pay over $7.5 or $8/hr. I called 7-8 agencies today for labour jobs and they said they do not have any work!
From November, I have worked in 7 factories, all short-term temporary work.
I do not about other places like Hamilton, Kitchener, or Alberta as to what is the ground scenario there and would like feedback.

Thanks for the link but I knew it already and do go through that site regularly.
This week I got work only for one day at $7.5/hr. There is some temp labour work for me coming Monday but I cannot even survive in Canada like this.
I go through Employment News(free private newspaper for labour jobs mostly) regularly also but when I approach the agencies which advertise regularly in Employment News, they say they do not have work. It means they are just advertising to get more candidates to register with them when actually they do not have work for all the people coming in and registering with them.

Biomed, thats very nice of you to post the numbers. I'll give these numbers to some of my friends as well who are looking .
One tip which an old timer gave is that in Misissauga area many firms hire from agencies, if one approaches these firms in person they are likely to hire directly as well if they are in need of people.
Also try going to Dixie-bloor neighbourhood center ( i am sure u must have tried , in case u have not ) http://www.unitedwaypeel.org/DesktopDefault.aspx?tabid=310
or india rainbow center http://www.indiarainbow.org/
i saw a lot of postings in dixie-bloor for help needed under various catagories.the staff there is very helpful as well.
Good luck my friend...

What can be imagined, can be achieved.
In jobs section of canadiandesi, the name of agencies and telephone numbers are given for many, many cities in Canada. If you put Toronto Employment Directory in google, you get a link in which large number of agencies are listed.
I am tired and bored of giving elementary maths test, english test, and WHMIS test and answering the question "how much can you lift?" at all the agencies! No problem with giving the test but at least give some work!
Dixie-bloor, they have 3-day program on resume prepartion, cover letter, and interviews which is going to be held on 17,18, and 19 Feb but I have an interview coming up for office job around at the same time so I won't be able to join that for now.
I telephoned 1-2 agencies in Hamilton and Kitchener and feedback I got suggests that chances for industrial/labour jobs are gloomy there as well. It is slow, that is what they say.
