This is for the benefit of all those who want to apply for a visa to the US.
From my experience, the Consulate is interested in knowing what ties one has to Canada. Anyone applying for a visa is considered a "potential immigrant". The onus of proving otherwise, lies on the applicant.
The following are considered strong ties with Canada.
1. Reasonably long employment in Canada (Supported by a work letter)
2. Property in Canada.
3. Established Business in Canada.
If anyone has specific questions with regard to visit visas to the US, please post them here, on this forum

Hi All,
I filled up the online form to schedule an appointment for for Visit Visa of mine and my wife in Toronto US Consulate. Now my question is , in this form I showed my wife as my dependent. So I am the Principle Applicant and she is the dependent.
As my wife is also working, should I conceal this information at the time of interview and tell them that she is a House Wife. I showed her as dependent coz otherwise she would have to fillup a seperate online form and schedule a seperate appointment.
The documents to show my ties in Canada will include A letter from my company stating my date of joining, post and intention for giving vacation to visit US.
Now should I also show the letter of employment of my wife?
Pls guide me on this
Thanks in advance

The only thing i can say is do not speak lies. Just go the right way even if it is longer.
Since if they have your SIN number or any other such document then it is very easy for them to find out that your wife is working. and once a visa is rejected and shows on the passport it will be a problem for a long time to come.
