I am a Landed immigrant whose been in the US for the last year and half on an H1-B visa.

If you already working in the US on H-1B, why you need another H-1B visa? Did you change the employer?
or
Are you just working in US based on the H-1B document and no H-1B visa stamp in the passport? (I assume you entered from T.O to US and got the I-94)

Quote:
The consulate listed on my H1 document says "TOR" (short for Toronto).

That means they already informed to the T.O consulate that you are going to appear for the interview.

What issue does anyone think I will face when I go to India to get the stamping of the visa done.

The only thing they ask in T.O consulate is your status to Canada. The PR card is enough, but they may ask other documents (bank...) to show that you have relations with Canada.

For India:
The dropbox system got cancelled. Now everyone have to appear for the interview, just like the way I mentioned in this thread.

If I were you, I prefer US consulate in Canada than India.

I have not changed employers - same employer as when I first came in. I have no H1 stamp on the visa - just an entry recorded of H1-B status without the visa.
I have already made the appointment with US consulate in India, and have given them the information too (WAC or the approval number). They havent responded in the negative so far - is that an indication that I am still on for the interview?
I have travel plans to India anyways, and thought I'd get it stamped there.

I went for an H1B interview in Toronto and they asked me to check back after a month during which they would do an administrative clearnace check. Any idea what this implies?

Is it your first time H-1B visa?
and
What's your citizenship?

Did they gave you any phone number or email address to contact them for status of your visa?
or
Did they tell you if any updates on your case they will send you a letter or contact you by phone?

For a my friend's wife in India, they took 3 months to issue the H-4 (dependent visa) that too after personal interview.

How can you , as an Individual, apply for H1B ???

I was under impression that ... (and I still believe) that H1B is processed by Employers & not Employee (or individuals).

Or is that I missed something in your Post ??? (its possible, as it was lengthy & I am not a good reader :) )

Kiran.
