Dear Mr.Nikhil and senior desis,
Thank you for your advice and comments. It was useful in understanding the system there. Now, is it possible for him to come as a transfer student after completing the first year. Will it be possible for you or senior desis to throw some light on this. His +2 marks were not very good. If the eligibility for getting in to canadian universities is 75% (as seen in the some university websites)and above he will not stand a chance. His English is good and he can score very high in TOEFL.But I think this alone will not get him in to good university. He is working hard now to get good grades in first year and based on this credits may be I can try to transfer him.(If that option is available). He is a shuttle badminton player and represented cbse schools inSaudi Arabia in the CBSE national meet held in qatar ,Dubai and Nagpur for the past three consecutive years. Is there any chance of eligibility under sports category in canadian universities.
Please advice.
Dear Ind.59
Thanks for your reply, I was with Linde now it is called Linde BOC.
I tried in US and also attended interview in LINDE-boc at US but unfortunately it went slow at that moment so it did not clicked.
I m in mississauga and I have seen tht BOC gases are expanding here and they posted an advt. for Project Engineer ISP but till date i dont have any response from their end.
May be you have better chances as you have full career in Gas industry, but i request you to kindly apply after coming here and you should not get below 80,000 CAD / Annum according to exp.
There are lots of gas companies like BOC, PRAXAIR , AIR LIQUIDE in toronto so you stand good chances.
Regarding transfer in university i think it is not possible ( still not sure) as i haven't heard any case till now.
I request your son can complete Bachelors in India with good percentage and then try for masters here.
Condo is like a luxurious apartment with all facilities like Indoor swimming pool, gym. tennis court ect. but may be some of them dont have taht facility.
Apt. is like simple flats as we have seen in india with heating systems they dont have AC.
If i were you i would prefer Condo though expensive but Apt. is also not bad if you have finance constraints in beginning.
Please let me know if u need any other info.

Do or Die.....
Ind 59,
You can assess your kid's ability better. The admission to Engg courses here at undergrad level is also pretty competitive, not at all as bad as it is in india. He can get into an enggineering course for sure here if you are ready to pay but the choice of college could be a challenge if his performance has not been very strong. Yes, his sports abilities might help but with cricket and badminton, eeh... these are not very popular sports here but it shows his athletic ability and might help him. My cousin just got into York univ and she was celebrating and she was also not that good a student .
Looks like you have already spent a big chunk in getting him the admission. $6500 USD you can buy very good eduction here as well , here for an undergrad in good univs York/ U of Toronto costs between $3to $5000 CAD/per yr for tuition depending on the course.
Transfer from univs here is a common thing here but from a foriegn univ in india it is unheard of . You can check with your college in Guindy if they have any tie ups with Canadian/US univs.
But i can understand your predicament, having got him the admission and if he is already in the college it is mentally very hard to take him out of excitement mode of just getting into an engg college. If he just drops and comes here , the loss of his one year will be very stark for him and then he will have to prepare to get into colleges again from scratch.
Tough spot man !!! . If he does his Masters from here then again he will have to prepare hard to get into a good course.
I will ask you one question here.
Can he safely stay out of india for the next 4 yrs without risking his PR.
If yes , then just leave him there and let him complete his engg and then bring him here ....time flies . If he will be risking his PR by staying out for 4 yrs, i would get him here right away , forget about the money spent and the admission in india. And start here from a new beginning , it will be a for better for him to start a life with an undegrad degree from Canada.
Also you will maintain your family here at one place.
And most importantly , ask him what he wants, after he understands the pros and cons of staying in india for the next 4 yrs.
Good luck with whatever you decide.

dear interceptor,
thank you for your feed back. You are optimistic regarding job prospect.I do have all my 24 years in gas field. But what is missing is canadian qualification and canadian experience. With these two missing , i don'know what is in store for me.Any way thanks and let us hope for the best.
Dear Mishtar india,
Sorry for a delayed response. As you said, I am in a tight spot.I can retain his pr card even if he continues in india.I have planned it this wayfor my son.
First entry - 5-01-2005 (ten days)
Second entry - 20-05-2005 (45 days)
third entry - 20-05-2006 (45 days)
fourth entry - 20-05-2007 (45days)
Final entry - 20-05-2008 to 05-01-2010 = 7+12 = 19 months
Inthis way he can complete 24 months before the 5 year period.
I will ask my son also about his choice.Money is not a matter as traveling from india to canada three times will be equal to what i have paid as tution fee already. The only thing is I have to set up my family there for his anual visits.Otherwise I would have moved along with my family in Jan 2008 to complete the two year period to retain the P.R card.
I onceagain thank you and all desis for sending their views.
Hi Krish,
I read your plan and all the replies posted by other CD members. Except your fisrt move all other decisions are really great. Fisrt issue is really a ticklish one. Your wife can upgrade her Indian B.Ed. without much problem provided she got this degree as a regular student. She has to undergo a short duration cource once her evaluation is done by Ontario College of Teachers.
I personally know a Indian Dr. who also cames from SA. He is still working over SA and his family has moved here. Keep in touch and write for any help, suggestions. You can also write a PM.
Take care.
