WHEN I SAY THAT WE HAVE COME HERE FOR CHILDREN( ATLEAST WHEN i SAY SO) then I really mean next generation after 20-30 years.. but it also has a cost(REALLY?) that they forget our traditions and learn canadian ways. but did not we also forget ways of our parents and grandparents.. so life just goes on
Atleast I have already finished 40 years in India... so is not it better to spend one life in India and then come here for children and our own golden years.

If your childre have to stay in Canada ... then its helpful for them to learn the Canadian ways.. Indian values r good in India..

I have a point here. Please do not keep on denouncing Indian traditions.
Do u mean that family values of India r no good here. u have made such a sweeping statement that it has swept me in cold air of Canada.
My basic philosphy of religion and tradition is based on the fact that ways and styles are dependent on weather , climate, facilities etc..( Hindu in a cold conditions is more prone to eat Non-vegetarin dishes, Hindus and Muslims of border area have similar tastes , sense of humour etc)
BUT.. BUT.. there are certain things which r always right.. anywhere..( otherwise one can get AIDS!).

Yes we must accept environmental changes( do u remember... bringing up by heredity and by environment in which a child grows... Raj Kapoor movies!).. but there are some basic valuies which should not change and infact others must learn from us.

To be on a different side, We moved to canada for the betterment of our own lives and not our children's as such (which may come automatically but was never a reason for deciding to move to canada ) .

Good point. One should also be able to enjoy their own life. Everyone want good for their children. They should also think about themselves. Enjoy as much as possible as in old age (or retirement) you may not be able to do them.

Dont expect kids to take care of you in old age in western countries. they have their own lives (nothing wrong with that). Its just the way it is.

Your ambition in not to do well for your kids. YOur ambition is for yourself...to be something that you like.

Of course the ideal situation would be that both the parents and Kids are able to do well and have a full life.

Age group at the time of moving is an important factor in motivation factor for the move.
it can not be same for all.
