Hi

I am thinking of looking for opportunities in Middle east and would like some advice from someone working in UAE/Bahrain/Kuwait. I am ruling out Saudi since the environment doesn’t seem to be good as well as lack of good education facilities for kids. I have been working in Saudi for four years before coming to Canada.

My question : is there still good opportunities in Middle east? If I were to go, I may have to stay at least for a period of six to eight years and I see no point in moving just for a very few years. My objective is making $$$. I am a bit concerned as I am reasonably well employed in Canada and I do see opportunities in Canada for myself in the future. But, I have to move back to India in the next 10 years and I don’t think I will be able to make enough $$$ from Canada to reach my financial goals.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Hope u ve seen the thread of saving 10 lakhs !!

As much I can see its difficult 2 save n Canada due 2 high taxes and cost of living. Gulf on the other hand offers u a tax free economy which translates into cheaper goods and services and higher savings .

Chances are one to one , an ME resident will save more than a Canadian resident . If u plan 2 relocate back 2 India consider ME n spent some 5 years or so and save INR 30 - 40 lacs !!!

UAE / Oman / Bahrain /Qatar / Kuwait /SA are as per diminishing lifestyles in terms of modernity and lineralisation.

Manasvi.

PS : As a Canadian National u r assured of a higher salary in the ME.

In my opinion Kuwait would offer best $$$$$$

Market is booming and if you have the right experience , then you can capitalize.
Some companies in Kuwait that are recruting are

1. Alshaya - Major retail company with more than 40 brands ( franchise)
www. alshaya.com

2. Al Jazeera Airways - New low cost Airline coming up in Kuwait. Will need more than 150 people in next 4 months. No website as yet.

3. Aramex. US based courier company. Go to their website. Openinigs in Jordon and other ME countries.

4. United Nations http://www.un.org" rel="nofollow">LINK and they have some middle east vacancies on their website+ vacancies in new york.

5. Go to local newspaper webpages . Local newspapers here are Arab Times and Kuwait Times ( both english)

6. KBR . go to their website and see openings for Kuwait

Wish you all the best

Hi There:

Energy sector is a big scope over here, in next 10 years they are going to invest $20 billion, oil, gas, water and power and average salary is USD 3000 plus perks, in Middle level professional. You can search jobs easily thru net as well, or subscribe gulf news.

Personally I don't go for Kuwait, Baharain as well, being democratic, Baharain inviting lots of trouble these days, Kuwait is quite isolate, not much life in comparison to Western culture. Dubai is the best so far in this region. Ofcourse opinion varies.
