Hello Massoodji,
I filed my husband's immigration papers in Canada in May 2004. He had an interview in Delhi in Sept end. He got immigration but as he had an already open file under independent category, the immigration officer asked that they would mail him a form to close that file and then once they receive the signed form, they will mail him the passport with visa. It has been more than 5 weeks now and he has not received anything. He did send a letter by speed post stating to close the old file and send him passport but have not heard from them yet.
Any comments / suggestions ?

Hello Massoodji,
As per your suggestion I faxed and e-mailed to CHC, and to my surprise, an officer frm Delhi called my husband and said, they are waiting for the form to be signed and received. My husband said he never received the form.
So we don't know , if CHC forgot to send the form(??) or it was misplaced in the mail (the chances of which are rare).
Anyhow so now they sent the form again, he sent it back and now waiting for passport since last 2 weeks. The status on web site has changed to decision being made.
1 Can you tell me approx how many more weeks we are looking forward to before he gets his passprt ?

I have a follow up on this question.
Aashu's husband applied for his immigration from New Delhi. I am in the USA now... Suppose if I were to file for my wife's immigration from Buffalo, how long would it take (thw whole cycle..from Mississuaga till Getting the Visa) ? (It took 4 months for Aashu's husband)... Considering that CIC is on strike...will the process be delayed from CPC Mississuaga ?

For spouses, New Delhi is faster than Buffalo [hard to believe!!!]. Buffalo may go over one year.

Massood, the strike info is what I see when I visit the CIC home page. "Notice during strike period" or something like that.
So you say Buffalo is a bad option... Is there any other option in the western hemisphere that you can suggest ? Like Mexico city ? or some Latin American countries ?.....
