Dear Massood ji,

I am on a student visa here, got married recently in Toronto. Now my wife(who is also on student visa) needs to get her name change done as we wish to apply for PR soon. I have a few doubts about the same:

1. Do we need to get the name change done through the Office of the Registrar General in Toronto

2. or should I just get the name change done on the Indian Passport?

3. Or do we need both of these changes made?

Looking forward to your advice.

She can adopt your name and it will be reflected on the marriage certificate.

She can keep her maiden name on the passport.

Of course, she can get name changed on passport too ... but these are not important for applying for immigration.
