Is it viable to take car registered in Canada to US and get it registered over there if one plans to move to States or is it better to sell it ,Are there too many formalities across the border...? Could the Visa type be a factor in this..?

You have to pay tax and duties again and get car certified as per US standard. I dont feel car certification will be a major problem as Canada has a superior certification guide lines. That is what Canada feels!!!! It is very difficult and expensive to get car from US to be certified in Canada.
You are moving from a superior territory to inferior!!! dont worry and take your Car.
My situation was reverse to your. I was not able to get US Toyota RAV4 1997 in Canada because of very expensive procedures. I had to return it back to my relatives in US.
Is it possible that one can take car registered in canada and keep on using it in states without new registration in states , pay your car insurance from here in canada or this will be against law?
